Ask Engadget HD: What's the best plasma to pick up? {Engadget HD}

Oct 15th 2008 4:01PM Forget the KURO, its a great TV but it isn't worth the cash. If you really want to spend six grand, buy a Panasonic TH50PZ800U, a kick-ass home theater system and a Playstation 3. Not to mention you'll still save enough money to buy 6 months gas. I have spent lots of time with the Elites and Kuro's and they are beautiful TV's. But not worth the money. You can purchase the PZ800 for 2200 dollars in regular retailers. Black levels are very close, but the Panasonic does a better job of balancing the brightness that the average consumers want to see. Smoothest video image processing out there.... not to mention it has 4 cooling fans making fun more cool than an ice box. Unlike the KURO it wont heat up or electric bill, and with its advanced cooling system it WILL last longer than any other plasma. Give it a shot, go to Best Buy or Circuit City and check out these TV's or check out the review on CNET.com where the Panasonic got the same rating.

Sony's PlayStation 3 gets re-reviewed: Blu-ray abilities smiled upon {Engadget HD}

Jun 6th 2008 7:13PM 400 dollars is a great value. PS3 acts not just Blu-ray movies and games, but as a Media Server so you can access pictures, music, and videos from your PC. Has a 40GB or 80GB hard drive that can store all of your media. The only Video Up Conversion i've truly approved of was the PS3, up conversion is 20 times better than any stand alone.

Since your not using your HDTV, can i have it?

Samsung 750-series Touch of Color LCDs due in May {Engadget HD}

Apr 24th 2008 2:23AM i work at circuit, and we've had the 750 series for three weeks. They only thing that improved are the contrast levels. Some of the best black levels of any LCD, however many things still suck. The 120hz, comes preset on Low rather than High like last years 71 and 81 series. But on High the 120hz still has its frame mashing issues, it looks terrible....

The ToC, or Touch of Color, is pathetic. They show it glowing and its a very subtle redness. You can't see it, and when you notice it, you ask yourself why the fuck they'd ever do that.....

Anyways, that's my opinion. If you have to go LCD, wait for the new Bravia LCD from Sony. I promise, its worth the wait.
