Canon cleared to resume work on SED TV (now that the world doesn't care) {Engadget HD}

Dec 2nd 2008 2:54PM The world has been laughing at SED for years? Oh, I didn't know that.

Is OLED the only real contender for the next generation of displays? Or laser TV?

Sony's BRAVIA EX1 / ZX1 HDTVs arrive in the UK {Engadget HD}

Nov 24th 2008 9:23PM Is the TV any good, though?

I dunno about this ultra thin stuff. If the darn thing needs a separate box to plug everything into it, I really don't see the point.

Sure, if you want to hang on it on your wall, I get it. But otherwise, it's kinda silly.

That's all I need, another little box on the shelf!

Samsung titillates with transparent and 0.05mm 'flapping' OLED panels {Engadget HD}

Oct 29th 2008 9:39AM I'm sick of this obsession with making screens as thin as possible. I don't care!

Just give me better picture quality.

I still don't think plasmas and LCD are quite good enough.

I'm hoping OLED will eventually give us a truly sensational 1080P picture.

BDP-S300 firmware 4.20 adds Dolby TrueHD support, finally {Engadget HD}

Sep 2nd 2008 11:49AM What I'd like to know is...

Which player has the best quality picture when outputting 1080i and 576p through Component?

The 300 or 350?

As I have a very nice Sony Widescreen CRT that aint going anywhere, that's all I really care about.

Anyone know someone that's got access to both players?

Sony delivers the first 240Hz LCDs November 10 {Engadget HD}

Aug 28th 2008 3:41AM All this fancy stuff is all well and good.

But how's the picture quality? Say, better than a full HD Panasonic plasma?

Then I might get excited.

Jul 17th 2008 4:43AM Will the upcoming Australian Tivo do all this fun stuff too?

Jul 17th 2008 4:27AM The TV on display is a 55XBR8. You can see the model number in pic 1.

Why no extra info on the TV, Engadget folks?

NHK demonstrates 8K display: 16x more detail than 1080p {Engadget HD}

Jun 20th 2008 6:39AM It kinda feels like 1080P is obsolete before it's really gone anywhere.

How long will 1080P be considered the Hi-Def standard?

Universal's first Blu-ray Disc cover revealed {Engadget HD}

Jun 13th 2008 10:25AM Universal on Blu-ray. Sweet.

Every new title (regardless of what it is) I see in one of those cute little blue cases, warms my heart.

But I just wish it would all happen a little faster.

Sony gets official with XBR6 / XBR7 / XBR8 HDTV lineup {Engadget HD}

Jun 6th 2008 4:59PM Why the heck would ANYONE buy a 70" LCD?

They've actually got one here at a Sony shop in Melbourne.

It's pretty cool and all, but I'm sure a projector would have a much better image. Surely, if you wanted that kind of size, a projector is the ONLY logical way to go.
