The owner of the car works for the business that I co-own, and he drives it to work every day (although we all aren't sure what keeps it running). He has explained to us before his quirky theory that a filthy car deters theft because no one thinks it will be worth stealing. And the mildew on the outside is all too real as well; none of the other employees wants to park near him for fear that the condition might be contagious...
