Time Warner Cable brings 6 more HD channels to Northeast Wisconsin {Engadget HD}
May 30th 2008 12:23AM The Aggie CEO...
You probably got a firmware update to your box and/or CableCard. I'm assuming you have the SA 8300 HDC. I had that happen here in Appleton (Green Bay, WI market). After that happened, the little bugs and stuttering problems with DVR (like Rob mentioned) were gone. I think it was more of a Scientific Atlanta issue than a Time Warner issue. My 8300 HDC runs like a champ, speedy and quirk-free.
Nonetheless, I too would switch to a satellite provider if I could, just for the volume of HD content alone. Unfortunately, I'm in an apartment with no patio/deck/balcony, so I'm out of luck.
Time Warner Cable brings 6 more HD channels to Northeast Wisconsin {Engadget HD}
May 29th 2008 11:16AM I heard -- and don't quote me on this -- that the Northeast Wisconsin division is actually like Time Warner's #2 division in the country. I didn't believe it myself. Even if it's not, the Northeast Wisconsin division does have switched digital video in its system, whereas the Southern Wisconsin division does not yet have it.
DISH Network brings HD locals to three more cities {Engadget HD}
Apr 16th 2008 3:19PM WLUK (Green Bay's FOX affiliate) confirmed on their website that they are now available on Dish Network. No idea if that's true, or what other GB channels are up, because I can't get Dish where I live.
This is WLUK's first HD carriage in the Green Bay market. They've danced around a deal with DirecTV ever since 2006 when DirecTV first launched Green Bay locals in HD, and WLUK supposedly has little or no interest in cable either.
Charter rolls TLC HD and Discovery HD to Northeast Wisconsin {Engadget HD}
Mar 27th 2008 10:15PM It's a count of national HD channels, and you're missing Discovery HD Theater (734). That makes Time Warner 16 national HD channels and Charter with 18.
