TWC gives New York City a new helping of HD channels {Engadget HD}

Dec 21st 2008 12:24AM The February OTA Digital Transition has nothing to do with anything cable does. That being said, there are 'rumors' that Southern Manhattan will be seeing the massive HD additions on 1/31.

Dec 20th 2008 5:27PM Southern Manhattan (below W79th and E86th) has not gotten any new HD channels yet - they are still in the process of eliminating analog channels in the lower half of Manhattan.

TWC announces HD expansion for Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens {Engadget HD}

Nov 13th 2008 12:48AM 1) There is no 'new' HD tier - if you already get the SD channel, you'll get the available HD channel. (The existing HD Xtra tier (HDNET and HDNETMovies (Mojo will be gone very shortly)) also includes the Sports channels in the 450s - so you'll get those HD channels that way as well.)
(It's not clear what level MGMHD will be - it's a replacement for Mojo on other systems, so it's possible it'll be treated the same for us - but nobody knows for sure yet)

2) There is no FiOS timetable for NYC - it is going to be on a building-by-building/block-by-block basis. It could take up to 5 years.

TWC's Queens / Brooklyn HD expansion going live on April 30 {Engadget HD}

Mar 26th 2008 12:30AM Analog elimination is ongoing. The reason it's not done all at once for all of TWC-NYC is very simple... Analog boxes need to be traded in... They can't take care of everyone at once. (its as simple as being able to handle the demand with enough supply)

Now... why have they chosen this order - yes it may have 'something' to do with fios... )even though they aren't allowed to provide TV service yet)

Bottom line - they've already sent out notices to analog box customers in Manhattan North - they need to trade in their boxes by May 23rd.
