Apr 10th 2008 9:53PM Wrong - solid state isn't archival like tape - you have to empty them right away into your editing system.
(which is a pain in the middle of production.)
HDV is here to stay! The media(tapes) only cost $10 - $15!
But Canons aren't the best HDV anyway - They don't evn put LCD screens on their pro-cams cuz they're such poor quality!
Sony's are the only real choice.

If the program you have can do effortlessly the most complicated, memory hogging thing you do then - why would you want to install a new OS and risk even one of your functions that you rely upon to not work?
And I edit HD video - is there anything more system heavy than that?
