Is the music industries fate in the hands of high-def media producers? {Engadget HD}

Sep 11th 2006 3:02PM I'm 25 years old and I don't know if I'd be considered from the iPod generation or the MTV generation but I'm a huge fan of high quality surround sound music, whether it be on SACD, DVD-A, Dual Disc etc. I would definitely buy high res music on either BRD or HD-DVD (hopefully the latter since I own and HD-A1) but I don't believe that high res music needs to be paired with HD video. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice but the majority of current format high res music that I own doesnt have video and I'm fine with that. The few albums that do have video are generally live performances which IMO sound much worse than a remastered studio album (IE Pink Floyds DSOTM SACD).

Got HDCP? You might need it {Engadget HD}

Feb 2nd 2006 3:28PM Sorry to break this to you Jake, but HD-DVD/BRD doesn't support HD via component . You will get the exact same resolution via component as you would through an non HDCP DVI connection (480P/540P etc).

1,000 post contest: win an Xbox 360 Universal Remote {Engadget HD}

Nov 14th 2005 3:52PM My favorite post was the announcement that all Xbox 1 titles that are backwards compatible with the 360 would be displayed in 720p/1080i. http://www.hdbeat.com/2005/11/11/xbox-360-backwards-compatibility/ This is my favorite post because I was anticipating Halo 1 and 2 would be in HD, but not EVERY backwards compatible Xbox 1 title. I'm really going to enjoy re-playing some of my old Xbox 1 favorites on the 360. Develitate@Gmail.com

Xbox 360 backwards compatibility list released: 720p and 1080i for all {Engadget HD}

Nov 12th 2005 3:08AM YES!! I was extremely excited for Halo 1 and 2 in 720P and now every game Xbox 1 game will be upconverted. I'm just as excited to play some of my favorite Xbox 1 games (Ninja Gaiden, Staw Wars KotOR) on the 360 as I am the actual 360 titles.
