Jan 5th 2007 12:24PM Ok, I thought I understood all the tech specs about resolution and such, but I don't get this, from Vizio's own site regarding this TV:
Format
1080p, 1080i, 720p, 720i, 576p, 576i, 480p, 480i
Maximum Panel Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Supported Native Resolutions
1366 x 768, 1280 x 720, 1024 x 768, 854 x 480, 800 x 600
So, which is it whats the difference between Maximum Panel Resolution and Supported Native Resolution ? If you hook up a Blu-Ray player with full 1080p (or Xbox HD-DVD, right?) will you get it?

Aug 10th 2006 6:52PM The local Fox affiliate in Seattle (KCPQ) is in HD on Comcast, but not on Dish or (I think) DirecTV. The problem is that Tribune, which owns KCPQ, also wants Dish to carry KMYQ, another station they own here that is going to be part of the new MyNetworkTV. And Dish ain't gonna do it; they've been in a standoff since May 1. An attorney from Tribune suggested I switch to Comcast and that they were being wronged by Dish b/c Dish wouldn't carry their crappy station in HD. Blah.
MyNetworkTV the first all HD broadcast network? {Engadget HD}
Jul 28th 2006 6:07PM Here in Seattle, this network is causing a real headache for those of use who use Dish Network. Tribune Broadcasting owns both this and the local FOX affiliate (KCPQ) and Tribune won't let Dish rebroadcast KCPQ-HD unless they also take this channel (to be called KMYQ, formerly KTWB). I've had a lengthy e-mail conversation with the Senior Counsel for Tribune and he claims they are in "negotiations" with Dish - but that's been going on since May. And to make matters worse, KCPQ-HD is very hard to get in Seattle OTA b/c of where their tower is. All the other networks are happily on Dish.
2006 World Cup HD Schedule {Engadget HD}
Jun 8th 2006 2:00PM Dish Network carries it (though ESPN.com doesn't think so - I'd include a URL but espn.com has gone all Flash crazy on their schedule - yuck!). But in order to view it on Dish, you have to have one of their new MPEG4-capable receivers (622 or 211) which haven't been out very long at all.
The worst part about this is that when they're showing the game in HD on ESPN2-HD, there's only SD content on ESPN-HD. I've seen the folks in Bristol, CT flip a switch and have content from their various channels (ESPNEWS, ESPN2, ESPN) appear on the others, so it seems unlikely there's a technical issue here. Come on, ESPN, show the games on ESPN-HD!
