Survey says consumer won't pay that much extra for 3D {Engadget HD}

Oct 2nd 2009 5:16PM And I certainly don't want it if its like the headache-inducing first 20 minutes of the latest Harry Potter movie. I was so glad when it switched out of 3D.

It's game day, who's got the NFL RedZone Channel? {Engadget HD}

Sep 13th 2009 8:05PM SD on Comcast in Boston area. Tivo showed it appeared Friday afternoon. I did just get a notice in the mail the other day about Comcast cutting down on analog channels in a few months, so maybe we'll be getting it in HD once analog is gone.

58 percent of salespeople recommend Samsung HDTVs, 100 percent like big commission checks {Engadget HD}

Sep 11th 2009 12:02PM I like Samsungs and probably would have just had my parents buy one except for the nice package deal that Best Buy just had on an XBR9, BluRay and (probably not great) HTIB system (XBR9 + BD was cheaper than Samsung + any BD) so can understand, however, it nearly killed me hearing a sales person telling another customer that everybody loves Samsung because of how great the glossy screens look -- thats the biggest disadvantage in my mind of their units and what prevented me from buying one a few years back for my room where the screen gets direct sunlight.

Blockbuster DVD kiosks creeping into New England supermarkets {Engadget HD}

Aug 28th 2009 2:18PM Must be a very localized chain because I live outside of Boston and have never heard of "Big Y". Must be in Springfield area. I would hardly say "throughout Mass" as the press release says.

TiVo projects larger than expected losses, still taking the patent fight to AT&T and Verizon {Engadget HD}

Aug 27th 2009 8:13AM I just wish they'd fix the duplicate recording issue that popped up on the latest version of ComcastTivo before adding on-line scheduling. Its been picking up duplicate recordings of every episode in its to-do list which is a pain for shows like Burn Notice which USA repeats 10 times a week.

The next Batman flick could be all-IMAX {Engadget HD}

Aug 26th 2009 3:36PM Don't know if this was better or worse, but in the Boston area, there were 2 theaters showing the previous Batman in IMAX, both at Jordan's Furniture (yes, a furniture store chain has IMAX theaters as part of their "sales gimmick"). Both theaters are huge (like about 500 people) and were sold out for quite a few weeks. I don't know of any other IMAX theaters in the area which have non "science" movies (the other IMAX theaters are in Museum of Science and aquarium).

RCN making cobranded TiVo boxes its 'primary DVR platform' in 2010 {Engadget HD}

Aug 4th 2009 11:09AM There isn't anything in the article that rules out this being tru2way/Series 4 Tivo. If it were, it would just be a matter of co-branding vs. needing software which interacts in a proprietary way with the VOD services and/or tuning adapter, correct?

Verizon rolling out more apartment-friendly hardware {Engadget HD}

Aug 3rd 2009 8:56AM I'm in a townhouse complex which Verizon decided to skip when wiring up to houses all around the area. We have big wiring boxes in the complex, so it shouldn't have even been too difficult. Too bad for them because Comcast already upgraded our area for DOCSIS 3 modems which are pretty nice as well.
