TomTom for iPhone pricing leaked {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Aug 5th 2009 6:26PM Does nobody realize that you can't just apply a conversion rate to a UK (or any other country for that matter) price and expect that that will be ours? Aside from the VAT which will not be applied to the price here, everything is more expensive in the UK.
Just look at the Tomtom units on Amazon.com and compare them to the same models on Amazon.co.uk. I specifically noted that 740 to be £269.99 versus $299.99. That would put the iPhone setup at $110-$125 if similar conversions are applied.
Survey shows increasing preference for MP3 by youngsters, audiophiles weep {Engadget HD}
Mar 9th 2009 7:15PM Funny how every generation thinks that the next one sucks so much more. "Kids these days..."
Everybody has the "one thing" that they're into, and can't seem to understand why everyone else could care less. For some people, its high-quality audio. For those of you here that are complaining, you can't seem to understand that some people are perfectly happy with acceptable audio.
For me, its cars. I see so many people in auto enthusiast forums who can't understand for the life of them why so many people buy Camrys. They're boring, generic, couldn't be less entertaining to drive, but they sell in droves. Why? They do a perfect job for A-B transportation. Reliable, comfortable, affordable.
Compressed audio does the same thing (I do prefer somewhat higher quality, but 196 AAC does the trick just fine for me). I doubt I'd hear the difference for lossless if I even cared to on my stock iPhone headphones, and no, I do not want to spend $300 on headphones. I'd prefer to spend that on my car.

The VW website under the Sportwagen section is currently claiming EPA highway estimates of mid-50s and city estimates of mid-40s.
Comcast TiVo in New England market now, maybe later elsewhere {Engadget HD}
Jan 15th 2008 6:47PM Apparently their definition of New England does not include Connecticut, as it is still not available here in Windsor.
Cruel, sick joke: Bentley Continental badged as a Hyundai {Autoblog}
Jul 5th 2007 8:32PM I disagree, I think its great that somebody with the means to purchase a Bentley still has a sense of humor, and is not stuck on the badge of his expensive car. Most people that own a car like this are snobs, I like seeing one now and then that isn't.
Review: 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP {Autoblog}
Jun 18th 2007 2:18PM With a torque curve this flat, what could you possibly need another gear for?
Autoblog, I noticed you have two things just a bit off. One, there is a storage compartment, at least in the base Solstice, in between the seats at about shoulder level. Perfect for an iPod.
Second of all, you only need to get out of the car once to drop the top. Why would you get out to open the trunk, get back in to open the latch, then get back out to drop the top? Pop the trunk, open the latch, get out and drop the top, and once you're used to it, one push on the roof and one close of the trunk are all it takes. Definitely not Miata easy, but not as hard as you imply either.
2008 LS3 Corvette spotted in Kentucky {Autoblog}
Apr 25th 2007 11:22AM Hey, I have an idea, lets actually post some numbers to go with this discussion:
Nurburgring
7:42 - Porsche 997 GT3, 415 PS/1440 kg, Walter Röhrl
7:43 - Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06, 512 PS/1419 kg, Jan Magnussen
7:48 - Porsche 997 GT3, 415 PS/1440 kg
7:54 - Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
7:59 - Porsche 997 Carrera S, PASM setting “Performance”, Walter Röhrl
7:59 - Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z51,405 PS/1481 kg, driver Dave Hill
The Z-tune is irrelevant as far as I am concerned, as its not mass produced.

european sport cars are much better than this plastic thing"
Find me one European car that can match the Vette for power, handling, and price. Oh yeah, I forgot, there isn't one.
GM introduces its first-ever purpose-built NASCAR engine {Autoblog}
Apr 16th 2007 1:31PM There are a few inaccuracies in the article here Autoblog. First of all, the engine was not created as a response to Toyota. According to the full press release, it has been under development since '99, which is before Toyota even announced their intentions to compete. Secondly, the Texas race already happened yesterday, and therefore the engine has already debuted.
As for the NASCAR hater(s), I'll leave that alone. I think its funny that the people that post on the internet to crap all over NASCAR for being stupid usually show themselves to actually be quite stupid. Yes, the cars are not stock. Yes, we all know that. No, they're not going to change it, its WILDLY successful. If you want production cars on road courses, go watch the Speed GT series, its exactly what you're looking for.
