PC Rush orders up 10000 HD VMD players: any takers? {Engadget HD}
Nov 29th 2007 5:23AM It looks promising have a look at film list lots of good films at $17.99 including blade trinity and a few disney titles got to remember market in far east is huge and prices will fall very quickly I think players will be in supermarkets for $100 in no time also they upscale to 1080p for normal discs and region free and discs can be produced on normal DVD production lines I also think a DVD Recorder useing this technology would be great for TV programes you want to keep and Home video from camcorders

Aug 18th 2007 5:30AM Main problem is Blue-ray Java at present no machine can run it if PS3 is to run it it will need 1gig hard memory and uprated graphic card that can handle to streams at same time dont no if they can do this with firmware update main point clearing old models after 1st October all blue ray machines will have to be able to run new finalised blue ray spec there are a lot of dealers dreading october when people start takeing machines back that will not play all new features on new release discs like Cars from Disney with picture in picture that is not run from two films on same disc with java it will have to run from software to gain interactive features.

if a game on blueray disc is 25-50gig it will take ages to download most isp speeds are between 8 to 10 meg lots are 2 meg with cap of 2gig month ie BT how are they going to run this system ok in japan and usa with fiber optic connection speeds are lot faster in UK we are a long way from that I downloaded prey demo for 360 other day it took over hour and half to download approx 1.5gig which was good some people took 4 to 5 hours.what magic system is to distributed Sony's new system may be blue ray wireless network which sony will install in all regions in which it sells PS3
Sony's standalone Blu-ray player stumbles yet again {Joystiq Playstation}
Jun 24th 2006 3:30AM Ref HDMI 1.3 this is going to be on PS3 only proplem i can see none of HD tvs on market at moment are compatable with our TVs read spec. The HDMI 1.3 specification more than doubles HDMI’s bandwidth and adds support for Deep Color technology, a broader color space, new digital audio formats, automatic audio/video syncing capability, and an optional smaller connector for use with personal photo and video devices.
HDMI 1.3 also increases its single-link bandwidth from 165MHz (4.95 gigabits per second) to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps) to support the demands of future high definition display devices, such as higher resolutions, Deep Color and high frame rates. In addition, built into the HDMI 1.3 specification is the technical foundation that will let future versions of HDMI reach significantly higher speeds. most tvs will not accept this out put its overload for most TV on market most dont take 1080p 90%on market are only 720p or 1080i
What you need to know about Blu-ray {Joystiq Playstation}
Jun 16th 2006 4:00PM One thing sony is not telling you game discs are going to be locked to your machine manager in game shop was telling me you will not be able to sell games which you have finished as the serial no of disc is registered to your machine and will not work on any other machine as machine registers disc online when you first use it this is part of system that was going to be on blue ray dvd players its anti piracey thing movie companys wanted to start with it is not being used on films as no body will buy them you would not even be able to use different dvd players in same house but they are possible useing it on game discs so you would not be able to let your mates try your games or trade them in for new games we will see if they bring in this mad system I hope not I for one would not buy this crazy system I will stick to PS2.
