Jun 25th 2008 10:40AM Interesting. The VP505 will come in a few hundred under the Samsung PN50A550. Of course past performance does not inspire confidence in the brand :-\ The blacks were supposedly as black as Michael Jackson for earlier models. We'll have to see if the Reon chip actually helps with colors/SD watching, or is just an excuse to add a couple hundred onto the price.

Metropolitan Opera coming to PBS {Engadget HD}
Mar 26th 2008 10:35AM Thanks for pointing this out! If you are new to opera, this is a nice, easy introduction to the art form. Looks like they are singing in English (it's originally German - Hnsel und Gretel) and everyone knows the story. And just FYI, the Engelbert Humperdinck who composed this opera is NOT the one from the 60's. Look him up online. For those who wish to play know-it-all, the prayer duet in Act II Scene 2 is the most famous piece.
This is also one of the few well known operas with both a "pants" and a "skirt" role. Hansel is always sung by a mezzo or contralto (pants role) and the Witch, as in this performance, is often sung by a tenor (skirt role).

That might be the architectural design, but I can tell you that UH students are (on the most part) neither wealthy enough, or stylish enough, to have it decked out like that. I'm sure if you were to actually go into any of them, you would see the standard 15 yr old sofa, beat-up coffee table, and a sheet for curtains. Having said that, the kitchenette looks nice. Assuming the beadroom is the same size, it looks larger than my first few apartments.
