Universal's Blu-ray release plans uncovered, details later today {Engadget HD}

Apr 17th 2008 6:27PM Universal, you are forgiven. Guess I got to re-buy The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. I owned those 2 in HD DVDs, but just for test (no more HD DVD for me). The rest of my hi-def movies are all in Blu-ray (I own 77 BDs to date). Long Live Blu-ray.

Mar 1st 2008 7:32AM as a BD fan, I'd rather get HD DVD than HD-VMD. HD DVD uses blue laser, while this VMD uses red. newer technology is more expandable than old tech (red laser)
i know the bitrate is higher than HD DVD, but lower than BD.

I don't know why they even bother making such a thing. maybe they are aiming to replace VCD in Asian countries (VCD is still popular there - and cheaper than DVD)

Feb 29th 2008 4:36AM talking about setting the record straight between BD and HD DVD fans. I see same thing happening here as August 2007, except its the exact opposite. That is exactly what we BD fans felt back then. IMO, they should release HD DVD first as they currently unable to offer BD till summer.

Rock unfazed by fallout, still offering HD DVD as standard on laptops {Engadget HD}

Feb 25th 2008 5:40AM Engadget Staff, have you ever tried to read their forum? As per 19/02/2008 (the day toshiba announced defeat), James from rock has announced that a downgrade to DVD-RW drive is available, and blu-ray option will be added soon. I have been following their action for a long time.
