Transformers on BD in the Circuit City Computer System?

Ok, this could easily be in the realm of fantasy, forgery or computer error, but strange things are afoot at Circuit City.
A CC employee has reported in a forum thread that all of the old Paramount Blu-ray releases are back in the CC computer system.
Not only that but Blades of Glory and Transformers are also listed. Transformers is listed as a 2 Disc Edition and has a $34.99 price tag.
The UPC code for the release is 097361312422. The UPC for Transformers on HD DVD is 097361312804. As you can see there are distinct similarities between the two.
The thread also shows pictures of the CC computer screen showing the entries for Blades and Transformers, along with other contemporary releases such as The Brave One.

In the not sure I believe this category, 1080Living is reporting that Toshiba has a Blu-ray player in the works.
Apparently the player was originally scheduled for September 2008 but may be moved up to July given the recent events in the marketplace.
One source cited 2 players are in the works with a price target of $250 and $350.00.
I normaly wouldnt believe all this but it has the nuber of models price points and date changes this is probably based on some kind of fact. It also is being reported by a reliable source.

Netflix has Interesting Predictions for Blu-ray Disc

Over at Silicon Alley Insider they have posted notes from the Netflix conference call from late January.
While Netflix insight into the studios may or may not be better than anyone else, they made the following comments regarding Blu-ray Disc:
Appears Blu-ray has advantage in format war. Consumer adoption will
increase. Look out for players falling below $200, and Universal and
Paramount adopting Blu-ray. Would be a positive for studios and NFLX,
fueling "another decade" of "robust, robust" disc-based entertainment.
Again, it is not clear if they have insider information or are just hazarding a guess - none the less it is pretty interesting to see this statement to their shareholders.
Lets see I would have to agree you make a bold decision to support one format and then back it up to your investors by providing things for them took look for.

Michael Bay says I Told You So

Another fun read over at Home Media Magazine. It seems that Michael Bay has been enjoying the recent positive news for Blu-ray Disc.
In fact, it seems that Bay believes it is all over for HD DVD. Blu-rays better, and I told everyone, Bay said at the Visual Effects Societys sixth annual award show, where he presented the award for animated character in a motion picture. I was very vocal about it. I knew HD [DVD] was not going to make it.
Am I thrilled? It really wasnt my fight, but remember what I said in the press? I was kind of saying HD [DVD]s going to lose, he said. No one believed me.
Bay personally supervises his Blu-ray transfers and says he loves his preferred format. Its just sharper, he said. Its just [that] the tools are better. I just think its closer to what it should look like.
Perhaps Bay has something more to be happy about - the rumours floating around right now from multiple sources hint at news that will transform the format war coming very soon, with some setting Friday Feb 15th as the day. Officials remain tight lipped.
Keep in mind that this is seriously in the realm of rumour and conjecture! There have been many times where these days come and go with no news or excitement. Still it should be an interesting day, if only for the disc market share numbers for week ending Feb 10.
Here is more speculation about announcment. Do you think people are going to keep going out on a limb and supporting a format that is going to fail if they dont already know something? Come on......

Chicago (IL) Wal-Mart has begun phasing out two of its three HD DVD players that have been offered in stores and through its website in past months.
Industry sources told TG Daily that Wal-Mart is phasing out the RCA HDV5000 as well as the Venturer SHD7000 models. The RCA player has been offered exclusively in stores for initially $399, was then reduced to $299 and is currently sold on the clearance rack for $148. The Venturer device is available online and carries a clearance price of $167, down from $199.98.
Store employees from three different Wal-Mart locations in the Chicago area confirmed that the stores will not be restocking these models.
However, the company apparently plans to keep one Toshiba player in its lineup for at least 4 months, we heard. The HD-A3 player is currently sold in stores for $148.
There was no official comment from Wal-Mart about its HD DVD and Blu-ray offering.
These stories all came about in the last 24-48 hours. Lets see last time this much BUZZ was kicked up what happend? Oh Shit thats right Warner went Blu-ray! I mean I am all about routing for the underdog but you guys are gluttons for punishment!
