HP Create Amazing ad tilt-shifts our hearts {Engadget}
Nov 9th 2009 4:12PM If you are not amazed, then you don't get it - beautiful visuals, design and production value that compels the viewer to want to see more. My only gripe is the V/O at the end was soooo clinical. Only visuals please! But if they HAD to do a V/O (because we know that someone in HP marketing didn't "get it" and had to add their opinion) they should have used a woman's more sensual voice or at least a more gentle tag.
I'm betting all CGI too - but if it wasn't, I want to see the models and a "behind the scenes" of the production. This along with the light-tracer Nano spots and the BlackBerry phones made of media spots are my favorites!
Good Job HP!
iPhone coming to The Shack: Dallas and NYC this month, nationwide in 2010? {Engadget}
Nov 6th 2009 10:22PM Ahhhh, good'ol Radio Shack. How many great memories I have: TRS-80, actual bread-board components, SPL meters, huge multi-channel portable CBs... And now look what you've become - the Sharper Image of Wal-Mart level gadgets. But now you've got your iPhone - welcome to the 21st century.
Intel finds SSD firmware bug, calls in the exterminators {Engadget}
Nov 6th 2009 10:19AM Just be patient on Intel - they are pushing our envelope, and I'm happy they are! I just purchased/installed the Patriot Torqx SSD and I'm amazed by the impact. A few months ago I added a little OCZ drive to my Acer One netbook as my first test - I'm never looking back. So yesterday I yanked my two Raptor 300GB drives and installed the Torqx. Phenomenal difference - Win7 flies! My only regret, 128GB just doens't cut it and the 256's are AWOL... so today I'll receive another 128GB Torqx and RAID-0 'em. But believe me, the drives are fast enough already - RAID-0 is only to make them act as one drive (but better than JBOD).
SSDs are where CD's were in the 80's - at first people were cautious and they were expensive, but then they dominated and obliterated the LP in no-time. I agree, the old reliable spinning discs need to go. Sorry WD.
Motorola DROID review {Engadget}
Oct 30th 2009 11:30AM I think the Dock is one of it's most killer-app functions! Love that option. But lo, I'm Sprint and stuck (but actually quite happy). Man these are great times to be a geek!

Titanium Mouse by Intelligent Design costs $1,200, might be worth a little less {Engadget}
Oct 27th 2009 11:03AM (Actually the Bugatti is under-priced - they each cost over $5,000,000 to build but ONLY charge $2,000,000) Such a deal...)
Titanium Mouse by Intelligent Design costs $1,200, might be worth a little less {Engadget}
Oct 27th 2009 11:02AM Huh?! I know that the Bugatti is over priced, but over $1K for a #$!%ing MOUSE?!
HTC HD2 fulfills its unboxing obligations on video {Engadget}
Oct 27th 2009 11:01AM Want. Wish it had Android and would be Sprint (but would consider switching to V if it was Andriod over there.) WinMo is just too decrepit.
Toshiba's BDX2000 Blu-ray deck hits Best Buy for $199, sour grapes also on sale {Engadget}
Oct 26th 2009 8:58PM The only thing great about HD-DVD was its compatibility: the ability for one side to be DVD and the other HD. Beyond that, and the menu system, they did not have a compelling "killer-ap" to drive the customers their way. The PS3 was the killer-ap for Blu-ray.
Though, I'm glad I purchased the LG dual-mode HD-DVD/BD player just when Circuit City imploded - I still have my HD-DVD collection (all 11 of them!) and can play my newer BD discs (all 11 of them!).
I'm glad they swallowed their pride and joined the party - more products mean more competitive pricing/feature pressures.
