Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime squashes Wii HD rumors... again {Engadget HD}
Nov 7th 2009 6:21PM I don't see what the problem is here. HD is the here and now, why are they avoiding this? I'll admit, I've seen Wii games on a huge screen and it looks fine, but why wouldn't they want to add HD to the selling points? Does it add that much to the cost of a console?

VMware Fusion 3.0: Take 2 {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 31st 2009 7:48PM I gave VMware Fusion 3.0 a try for the first time today on a 27" iMac running Snow Leopard. Without any problems VMware Fusion 3.0 installed Ubuntu 9.04 from a CD with the Ubuntu ISO on it using the VMware's Easy Install feature. The VMware Tools installed automatically (don't follow the forum instructions you won't need them). Everything is running great, EXCEPT for the download speed while running the Ubuntu Synaptic Package Manager and Update Manager in the VM. Download speeds are SLOW. I've switched between NAT and Bridged networking in the VM setup, no difference. Using Firefox seems fine but the slow download speed while trying to download packages make it unusable.
Does anyone know what is going on with the download speed when trying to download packages? Switching to 2 CPU's instead of 1 also doesn't help the IO. -thanks

Oct 29th 2009 8:47PM YouTube videos played in Firefox take up less resources. Could it be a Safari issue?
27-inch iMacs having performance issues? {Engadget}
Oct 29th 2009 8:30PM I have a 27" iMac. I'm playing YouTube videos while I type this message and the video is smooth The %CPU spiked in the 70's at first, then dropped into the high 20's. Seems to spike at first and then drop. Running videos full screen sent it up to 43 when I switched back to check the Activity Monitor. Still smooth though.
What is the guy who reported this running in addition to flash? I had a VM open and running when I first tested YouTube and the %CPU spiked to 107 and the video and audio was choppy. It varied from 80 to 100 during that time.
