What the 27" iMac means for a designer {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 22nd 2009 7:26AM I wish Apple would start offering Blu Ray. I've got an LG player hooked up to my Sony, and a PS3 and my HP desktop hooked up to my Pioneer Kuro. The only thing missing from the equation is the ability to take my discs on the road with me. I've got a macbook thats 2.5 years old and on its last legs (plastic is cracking off at the edges of the screen and my superdrive just died on me) and is in need of replacement. I know apple thinks the future of HD media is online distribution, but I personally think that's a crock of shit, and at the least Blu Ray should be the interim option until ISPs can meet the bandwidth requirements to stream HD at the same quality.

Colleges throwing in high-def amenities to lure in millennials {Engadget HD}
Aug 9th 2008 10:45PM No kidding, Diego. Apparently the school is 20% women, which is funny, cause I had it figured at about 5% based on looks.

Jul 7th 2008 12:50AM I kinda fail to see the point. I've never stayed in an overseas VOQ (or any, for that matter) that has an HDTV. All of my friends who are stationed in Europe or Japan live off base, so they don't get AFN. Of course, just leave it to engadget to write about the least newsworthy topics.
Westinghouse VK-40F580D LCD embodies HD's divided state {Engadget HD}
May 25th 2008 6:47PM So what if it doesn't have an upconverter built into the DVD player? The screen is 1080p, the internal scaler of the TV will convert the signal from the dvd player to 1080p. The scalers in newer TVs have proven to have comparable performance to upconverting players. Even my early 1080p Westinghouse set did a great job with it's scaler. Everyone raved about the performance of the upconverter in the HD-A1 at the time, and I could see no difference between using it's abilities or the TV's.

May 7th 2008 4:51PM Until they can make a plasma that's screen doesn't reflect so much ambient light, I still think the Sony SXRD was the best TV on the market (if you don't mind it being rear projection). Plasmas seem fine for watching movies since dimming the lights is an option, but try eating and watching the superbowl in a blacked out room.
Hello, my name is Chris and I ordered a new MacBook Air {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jan 19th 2008 11:13PM I'm all for compact laptops, I just wish apple made a real one instead of the Air. $700 more to lose .32 inches in thickness and 2lbs (not to mention functionality). Seriously? My MacBook is plenty thin. I want something narrower and less deep. Apple should have taken a page out of Sony's book and made something more along the lines of the miniature VAIOs.
