Jan 4th 2008 9:45PM Nope. At least the WB were honest and said they were basing their decision on sales.

Jan 4th 2008 9:35PM Stand alone players... HD DVD won in the U.S.

"US households will together own 948,000 HD DVD playback devices and almost 3m Blu-ray Disc-capable machines come the end of 2007, market watcher DisplaySearch has estimated.

Breaking those numbers down, we get 2.5m PlayStation 3s, 678,000 HD DVD players, 461,000 Blu-ray Disc players and 270,000 Xbox 360 add-on drives, DisplaySearch said via Home Media Magazine."

Jan 4th 2008 9:13PM Can i have just a portion of that $500 million so i can afford a decent Blu Ray player? Sales for Blu Ray discs were $160 million compared to HD DVDs $103 million. Not bad considering it had 2 more studios backing Blu Ray. For WB films, Blu Ray sales in the U.S. outpaced HD DVD 60 to 40. Still slim margin. But huge gap in the UK. So be honest and say you changed your mind based on UK sales. And not to mention the Blu Ray players in the UK are far superior than the one's in the US. Oh can we have a ethernet port on the players as well as i'm sure we'll need constant firmware updates if Blu Ray wins the war as they will get lazy with their encoding of the dvds.
