This Thanksgiving, Adopt a Turkey (Instead of Eating It) {Holidash News}

Nov 15th 2009 4:19AM I guess you've never seen how these animals have to be killed.

It doesn't bother me because I know where my food comes from and that's just how it is.

I can deal with it because the life of an animal is not worth as much as the life of a human being that the animal will help to sustain.

Obviously, you can't deal with that to raise such a question.

This Thanksgiving, Adopt a Turkey (Instead of Eating It) {Holidash News}

Nov 15th 2009 4:17AM "You never even read the original article did you ? It was about as nice as you can get. If anything, it was cloying in it's sweetness!"

Rubbish. If you eat a turkey, you are spiting that "sweetness," which effectively demonizes those who disagree.

"Did you miss all the posts attacking the author of the original article or are you just deliberately ignoring them?"

No, because in that particular instance, I was talking about YOU. YOU made the claim about charity in a heartless attempt to show superiority.

"I really am trying to hold on to my temper here."

That's YOUR problem, not mine. And, if you can't keep your cool over something like an argument being conducted over the internet, then maybe you ought to stay off the computer for a while and collect yourself.

Maybe go out for a little walk and get some fresh air.

And, I'd hate to argue against you in person not because of fear of losing the debate but fear that you'd REALLY let yourself loose in anger and frustration and start attacking people physically.

If an argument being conducted over the net gets you riled up, you're truly unstable.

11-Year-Old's Lunch Trip to Hooters Causes A Stir Over Tweens and Sex {ParentDish}

Nov 12th 2009 8:48PM "Where are the restaurants with skimpy clad men?"

Ever heard of "Chippendales?"

11-Year-Old's Lunch Trip to Hooters Causes A Stir Over Tweens and Sex {ParentDish}

Nov 12th 2009 8:45PM So long as you teach and tell them what they need to know so they can proceed with wisdom and you are confident that you can trust them, then there is no problem with "tweens" going on a date.

To be sure, of course, there should be some adult supervision to provide some guidance because they are still young children, aside from the fact that you need to defend your children from any strangers that may take advantage of them when they're by themselves.

But, they need to learn and the best way for anyone, including kids, to learn is from experience. The experience will teach kids to temper their urges and make wise decisions in their relationships in the future.

Many kids end up being teen fathers and mothers because they never had the guidance and experience to help them control themselves and make the right choices. This occurs when you SHIELD your kids excessively from life.

Nov 12th 2009 8:34PM "Dumb ass redneck?"

Well, I can see your children will grow up to be intolerant and hateful of people they don't know.

They have you to look up to as a role model and if you act the way you talk in front of them, I feel sorry for them.

Nov 12th 2009 8:32PM If you're worried about your kids getting sexually active before they are supposed to, THEN BUILD UP SOME STRENGTH AND TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT AS A PARENT!

Shielding kids from the facts of life is actually harmful to them.

And, taking kids to Hooter's doesn't really teach them anything unless YOU make an issue out of it.

11-Year-Old's Lunch Trip to Hooters Causes A Stir Over Tweens and Sex {ParentDish}

Nov 12th 2009 8:27PM If this was a striptease joint we are talking about then, yeah, there would be basis for objection.

But, "Hooter's" is hardly a striptease establishment.

So the kids see some girls in skimpy outfits. So, what? What is the problem here? They see far worse when they watch television, play video games, and cheerleaders in sporting events.

Heck, even a DISNEY movie had women more scantily-clad than Hooter's waitresses. If you've seen "Aladdin," you know what I mean.

What have we become as a people when we start to question minutiae in light of more important matters such as an exponentially growing federal deficit and 10%+ unemployment?

To those who find offense with the kids going to Hooter's, SNAP OUT OF IT AND WORRY ABOUT ***REAL*** PROBLEMS!

Bill Clinton Warns, 'The Worst Thing We Can Do is Nothing' {Politics Daily}

Nov 12th 2009 6:49PM Carolyn, this is just Reinhart, though I'd much rather be called "Ashram."

I am *not* "Reinhart Moxon." I don't even KNOW this guy.

Please do not confuse me with that other guy.

Bill Clinton Warns, 'The Worst Thing We Can Do is Nothing' {Politics Daily}

Nov 10th 2009 11:02PM "Stella and her Rasmussen polls mean NOTHING."

In other words, you're willing to negate other data just because they dissent from your preferred point of view?

Such arrogance.

And, if you had any COMPASSION, why don't YOU go out and HELP others through genuine CHARITY using your time and/or money rather than sit behind your computer and criticize those who are voicing disagreement with something that will effectively steal from Peter to pay for Paul.

I am CYNICAL of your "compassion" because if all you do is talk with your representatives and only give a token to charitable causes, then your compassion is insincere!

You cannot force charity through government mandate, and how dare you insinuate that you are acting in compassion for others when you do so?!

Charity can only given from someone who is generous and has decided to give under his/her own FREE WILL.

I agree. What the Senate must do is KILL Obamacare by giving it a big fat number of NAY votes.

And whomever votes YEA, regardless of party, prepare to clean out your desks 'cause that little bit of information in the public record will be used against you in the polls.

And to those who would decry opposition by screaming "healthcare is a right" or the such, what makes you think the government is concerned at all about the health and well-being of the public?

I mean, the government, even the Democratic Majority and President Obama, is continuing on the military campaign in the Middle East, KILLING AND TORTURING PEOPLE AS A MATTER OF POLICY. And yet, you are willing to trust this same entity with matters concerning health and the preservation of life? THAT'S CRAZY!

If the government were concerned at all about health care, they should STAY OUT, INCLUDING KICKING THE LOBBYISTS IN THE HEALTH AND INSURANCE INDUSTRIES OUT OF WASHINGTON. This way, you won't have big health and big insurance actively lobbying and paying politicians to vote for their own interests at the expense of the People and the free market (and you'd better believe BIG HEALTH most likely has a BIG SAY in the Obamacare bill).

Remember, when the government does any kind of regulating, they MUST allow those who will be affected by the regulation a chance to have their say in the political process. This is how big business can get in and manipulate and corrupt the government to make them serve their purposes at the expense of everyone else.

The best way to allow the little guy a chance is to keep the big boys from influencing politicians, which means the government has to stay out.

The government should also stop pilfering Medicare and Social Security for their own purposes and pork.

The government should also lift the barriers of competition and allow insurance and health companies to compete out of state.

But, I guess that you cede too much control out of the government's hands and keep dirty money from lining the pockets of our "honorable" public servants, eh?
