Sony in talks with Microsoft regarding Blu-ray {Joystiq Playstation}
Mar 6th 2008 11:39PM Downloadable HD content being mainstream is many many years away. First of all, there is the fact that this country's internet speeds are far too slow for it to be really usable. Second, most computers can't even play HD video. You would have to by an HD player of some sort, which would defeat the purpose, because it would cost more than a blueray player. 3rd, you would only be able to play these movies on one TV, and you would run out of hard drive space very quickly. Downloadable HD movies just aren't feasable anytime soon.
HD DVD group cancels CES press conference in wake of Warner announcement: daaamn {Engadget HD}
Jan 6th 2008 1:00AM The real reason HD DVD failed is because of Microsoft. If the XBOX360 games were on HDDVD's instead of pathetic old 4.7 gig hold'n DVD's; everyone would own HDDVD movies. Since the PS3 games are on BLUray; there are more Bluray players in the world; therefore more bluray movies sold. GTA4 has been delayed so long because it won't fit on a DVD. Rockstar is waiting for Microsoft to develop a massive new type of compression to fit this huge game on a DVD. That means it will have bad textures and things compared to the PS3 version. The lack of HD media on the 360 is the real reason it failed. How many HD players would there be in the world if the 360 had it built in? You know I'm right.

Jan 6th 2008 12:44AM HD DVD has never won any neilson ratings. Bluray discs outsell HD DVD almost 2-1, and have for the entire span. If you count PS3's, there are millions more Bluray players than HD players in the world. I use my ps3 for Blurays all the time. It's over....face it.
Unhappy Xbox Live users demand compensation {Joystiq Xbox}
Jan 1st 2008 1:26AM That's odd. The PSN has never went down. I guess that's one more thing the PS3 can do that Microsoft can't. Oh yeah, my PS3 also still works! I know you guys won't believe it because you are so used to hardware failure, but it's true. I've never heard of a PS3 breaking.........ever.
