Toshiba pushes firmware 3.0 update to first-gen HD DVD players {Engadget HD}

May 8th 2008 6:03PM @ TT,

For all that BS you wrote, it still amounts to THEFT.

Just answer one question you hypocrite, why did you BUY HD DVD movies?

May 8th 2008 4:27PM Wow, just WOW!
You seriously think THEFT is justified because you feel you should be paying $19.99 or less for HD movies?

Need we to keep reminding you that DVD prices were EXACTLY the same as BD movies are now? Maybe you weren't an early adopter but I was so prices are not off the chart for BD movies in comparison. Throw 10 yrs of inflation into the mix and BD movies are actually cheaper.

Live within your means.

Panasonic's DMP-BD50 Blu-ray player gets US release {Engadget HD}

May 7th 2008 11:13AM Exactly, just ignore the haters. Paid $350 back in 98 for my first DVD player with S-Video only... still have it too.

Prices will come down, and contrary to what haters will say, the mainstream awareness of BD is quite there. CNN today posted the whole musicians puting their music on BD story.

Average non-HT folks that I know always ask me about it. I tell them unless they don't mind having the PS3, to just wait till at least this holiday to price the players out.

Will it ever surpass the level of success DVD had? To early to say, but it doesn't even have to in order to be successful.

You can get a BD standalone for less than a PS3 (about $350 or less) right now. Were talking about a high profile model with all the bells and whistles. A comparable DVD player back then was well above $500 retail.

May 6th 2008 6:21PM Both the 360 and PS3 are sold at a loss, so if we go by cost, you would pay more than $700 for both of those.

Take-Two sues Chicago Transit for pulling GTA IV ads {Joystiq}

May 6th 2008 4:38PM This was probably due to backlash from politicians regarding the upsurge in violence that has plagued Chicago as of late...

Still breach of contract. Im sure they had no conscience when they cashed that check from R*. Take Two is gonna take em to the cleaners!
