I worked at both Best Buy and Circuit City in north Pittsburgh area. The general population who could care less about electronics went to Best Buy. If you wanted a semi-knowledgeable salesperson who could help you...you went to Circuit City. Although, this was about 2 years after they stopped selling on commission. Back when salesmen actually cared about product and customer service.

Mar 28th 2008 4:25PM I wish I could get OTA channels. I'm in rural Vermont and would only get 1 OTA HD channel.
I get free HD (via CableCard) but pay for Tivo service and digital cable. All together about $70 for digital cable, Tivo service, and 25 HD channels.

Mar 25th 2008 3:20PM I thought the same thing when i first got netflix (about watching movies on your compute screen).
Then i got a VGA cable and hooked it to my HDTV and the PQ looks pretty decent for SD. I have watched the first 3 Office seasons in the past couple of weeks. Now they just need better movies...

I pay about $8.50 per month for tivo service. comcast was going to charge me $14 per month for an HD DVR. Add in the price of the box and my total comes to $16 per month for 3 years of tivo service. That is an extra 2 per month or $72 over 3 years. Not much more for a fantastic service where i can transfer my content (including HD) to my pc and burn them to dvd/blu-ray/hd-dvd/ipod.
