DISH Network finishes off VOOM, removes last 5 channels {Engadget HD}

May 14th 2008 11:16PM yeah, quality hd content like wfn! I guess quality is in the eye of the beholder. I would take GalleryHD, RAVE, World Sports & equator over wfn anyday. Granted, you make a good point about making room for quality or national HD content, but clearly some of these channels were just filler.

DISH Network's CEO admits to "missing the HD window" last year {Engadget HD}

May 14th 2008 10:49PM DISH has really made some huge mistakes lately. As I customer I feel a bit like they have insulted my intelligence and tried to pull the wool over our eyes to a certain extent.

I say just come right out and tell customers there will be some changes coming in the next few weeks and months. We will be adding and removing some channels from the HD lineup.

Instead they chose to say that we were getting 22 new HD channels. Which isnt a lie, but just not the whole truth. I don't need an additional channel to boast about these 22 new channels and not tell me the channels that I lost. It is a poor strategy and I find it insulting.

Tell me the truth. Tell me what changes are being made. When am I going to get some new HD channels with good HD content? What if any channels am I losing and why? Company's screw this up all the time. Instead of leveling with customers they think, "Let's just spin the good stuff and maybe they won't notice." Bad idea any day of the week.

DISH Network drops 10 of 15 VOOM HD channels {Engadget HD}

May 13th 2008 3:16PM ummmmmm.....why in the hell did we lose worldsport to wfn? I would rather watch golf than some red neck baiting a hook. seems like most of the "new" hd content isnt full HD anyway...most programming i've seen is 3:4. WTF?

Amazon officially makes Blu-ray format of choice {Engadget HD}

Feb 21st 2008 10:00AM Agreed. I mean c'mon. It's a little late to be announcing that you are going exclusively BD if the competition has quit the game. Now if they announce that they are going to continue to sell HD DVD or even switch to it exclusively....now that would be news worthy. Idiotic, but news worthy nonetheless.

Ask Engadget HD: DISH Network or DirecTV? {Engadget HD}

Jan 13th 2008 8:22PM Keith in Austin here. Thanks for all the input. I can see that it is pretty evenly divided. For those whom are wondering, I decided to go with Dish. I am sure I would have been happy either way. Seems like both have their pros and cons. I just hope we start seeing those new HD channels they teased us about coming soon. I too am a SCIFI Channel fan. Battlestar Galactica in HD...c'mon.

On another note, Anyone esle think OTA HD looks better than satellite HD?

Plasma vs LCD: Plasma is still better {Engadget HD}

Jan 10th 2008 6:21PM I have the Kuro PDP-5080HD in my living room, which has a full wall of windows and gets the morning and midday sun. I watch TV with the lights on and with all the shades open often and I have had no problem with glare whatsoever. No buyers remorse here.

I love my pio but I think most HDTV owners will be happy with whatever they purchase...unless its a phillips.

DISH Network's CES 2008 Booth tour {Engadget HD}

Jan 10th 2008 5:46PM Word! I need my scifiHD. Oh, and any word on which which channels are coming in HD and what the timeline looks like?

Plasma vs LCD: Plasma is still better {Engadget HD}

Dec 22nd 2007 1:15AM Well its all subjective really. But I think the Kuro line has been hailed as the best plasmas this year. At least from all the reviews. Sound & Vision mag (wher e the article came from) Picked the PDP-6010 as their product of the year. I think they chose the samsung because of the LED Backlighting which is supposed lead to better blacks. Admittedly, the best LCD is probably more of a close race.
