DirecTV HD, now with one wire! {Engadget HD}

May 20th 2008 9:20PM I had been a directv customer for 3 years and recently bought a new townhouse. It only had one wire going into the house but I needed 6 for all my HD DVRs. I couldn't do anything so unfortunately I moved onto Comcast. Hopefully directv starts including this in installs soon...I want to have directv again by NFL season.

More HD Major League Baseball than anyone can possibly watch {Engadget HD}

Mar 27th 2008 12:04AM Is there a way to find out which games will be in HD on MLB Extra Innings? Their ad says up to 40 games a week in HD, but I can't find a list. I'm curious about Red Sox in particular.

Onkyo unveils TX-SR576 and TX-SR506 receivers {Engadget HD}

Mar 18th 2008 10:53PM I would expect low sales for both models. The street price for an Onkyo 605 is $399, which gets you built-in decoders for all the new audio codecs. Why would you pay roughly the same price for one of these?

Reminder: DirecTV's free HD Extra Pack is up {Engadget HD}

Mar 15th 2008 11:18AM Just curious- how do they transfer these old movies to HD? I thought that the source must be recorded by an HD camera for it to be HD? How does the HD quality of these movies compare to current movies?

NFL Network allows Patriots vs. Giants Simulcast on NBC & CBS {Engadget HD}

Dec 26th 2007 10:45PM "Does anyone care about the Patriots and their cheating?"

Umm..obviously someone does. The Patriots have put up huge ratings all season long. In fact, the Patriots-Ravens game was the highest rated program in the history of cable TV. You obviously aren't a football fan.

NFL Network allows Patriots vs. Giants Simulcast on NBC & CBS {Engadget HD}

Dec 26th 2007 10:42PM I understand CBS, since it has the AFC contract. But why NBC over FOX? Was FOX offered the chance to show the game as well?

Sony dumping all rear-projection TVs to focus on LCDs? {Engadget HD}

Dec 20th 2007 4:37PM So is Sony basically saying "we don't care about sports fans"? Even the newest LCD units have motion blur problems, especially with football (this is based on reviews I'm reading).

RPTV sales up in latest reports, plasma falls again to LCD {Engadget HD}

Dec 17th 2007 2:13PM We are moving into a new house, and I'm shopping for HDTVs for the family room and the master bedroom. For family, I'm likely getting a 61" Samsung DLP- reviews are fantastic and the set is cheap.

In the bedroom, we will be tilting the TV often from side to side, so we want a ~50" flat panel on a TV stand. I know LCD is getting really popular, but I watch a ton of sports, and don't want motion blur issues. That is why I'm leaning towards plasma. Unfortunately, LCDs are much easier to find.
