Windows 7 to arrive next year, says Bill Gates {Engadget}
Apr 8th 2008 12:30AM I'm sorry, but at which point did I say that microsoft has made no changes to it's UI? The only comments about a GUI I made were directed to the MacOS, which is simply BSDUnix w/ kernel fixes and a shiny GUI.
Windows 7 to arrive next year, says Bill Gates {Engadget}
Apr 4th 2008 5:01PM This one's for Vince:
I've never understood the "MAC > WINDOWS" rhetoric that I see constantly. A large amount has been from you, especially in this thread now. I mean, I've used Windows since 3.0 and have had every OS they released (slight ME) and never had a huge problem with any one of them. The only real "BSODs" I can remember were when I ejected a floppy disk that was still in use (back when floppy's were still in use.) In fact, I can't even remember the last time I had a problem with my computer.
This brings me to my main point. You clearly prefer Mac to PC, and your reason is because it's better. Yet I don't see any logical thought behind it, or reasoning why it's better, except more freaking rhetoric. All your arguments are circular, gimme some proof, and not "omg it crashed its bad" or "ack my 10 year old software doesn't work with vista!" Mr. Mac Fan Boy, do you recall the release of OSX? Remember how bad it was at first? Do ya? Doubtful, but man it had it's problems, software incompatibility was one of the biggest. Maybe that's just because Macs suck. No wait, maybe it's because it's a new OS and they most likely don't test 10 year old software on it.
Which brings up the point, maybe you just suck with Windows? I mean, how else could one user's experience be so different from another's? People blame Microsoft for everything that is wrong with their computer that runs that company's OS, but in reality, 99% of problems stem from user error. From clicking the shiny banner that says you got a message to simply fiddling around with settings when you have no idea what you are doing, it's generally your own fault. Otherwise, my computer would be crashing constantly and not be able to keep an uptime of however long I feel like before rebooting.
Oh yea, I've used OSX...and Leopard. Leopard was awful at first, thank god for that release of bug fixes. I mean, it was terrible. My keyboard would cut out. So would the mousepad. If it went into hibernation, my airport wouldn't work unless I rebooted. Those are just the few I can think of, but it was around 200 bug fixes from what I can recall. Superior OS, isn't it? It's just a bastard child of BSD Unix anyway with some kernel fixes and a shiny GUI. I suppose it would be pretty easy to make an OS out of an existing one, much less complicated than designing it from scratch like Microsoft does with theirs.
