VIZIO steamrolls Q4, breaks all kinds of records {Engadget HD}
Feb 20th 2009 12:11PM Totally agree with you AP99!
Sorry Pingles, a company like Vizio can't 'ratchet up' quality because it has no control over it.
The article starts off by saying that: while other companies are restructuring ... then links to an article about Pioneer Kuro's jump from Plasma. The trouble is Vizio has also announced that it is jumping out of Plasma as well. So despite their great sales they've made a decision to focus on LCD. For whatever that is worth.
Thanks for the info ap99, I'm using your link as a source for my own article over on Audioholics.com.

Dec 2nd 2008 10:42AM Then it is truly useless. Hey, if Matt doesn't need it - it's not a good product, simple as that. His iMac already has a mini-toslink output, don't ya know!

Atlona announces support for DisplayPort, promises to release cables {Engadget HD}
May 21st 2008 9:47AM Hi Mark
They're completely different standards. It's actually better than HDMI. Plus it's license free, no HDMI royalties involved.
Here's a little blog post that might explain more.

A little more on HTC's Touch Diamond {Engadget}
May 6th 2008 12:14PM Yeeesh, that keyboard is aweful. I remember when that came out for orig Touch. There are better third party touch keypads out there. Otherwise, the HTC Touch Diamond is looking good!
Audiophiles can't tell the difference between Monster Cable and coat hangers {Engadget HD}

That was a good article. I've been railing against "high end" cables for years. This has been done many times. Tom Nousaine is a hi-fi journalist, don't know what even became of him. He did lots of comical A/B/X tests with panels of so-called audiophiles. It's funny the things they can't really tell the differences between. Cable vs coat hanger scratches the surface.
The Samsung BD-UP5000 to be discontinued in May {Engadget HD}
Jan 23rd 2008 1:48PM Hey Raptor007. It means you need to return this thing if you don't believe Samsung will update the firmware as supposedely promised - in May.
A 'replacement' means a replacement to the 5000's position in its product line, not a replacement for all its customers.
Blade Runner HD DVD box set gets reviewed {Engadget HD}
Dec 19th 2007 7:05PM HD DVD is the 'better' format.
Blade Runner was awesome in HD DVD but I'm sure it's no better or worse in Blu-ray. I gave my full thoughts on it here.

Dec 17th 2007 12:13PM Hi, this was photoed in Canada - I took the pictures.
If you're in Canada you'll see the same display setup in just about every Future Shop and Best Buy. I would be very surprised if they're not doing this one in the US too.
