Michelle Obama to receive $30,000 thank you from the President-Elect {Luxist}
Dec 2nd 2008 9:52AM Besides Obama's salary as a senator, he made most of his money from his books' sales. In other words, he worked for it - just like anybody else can. Good for him!
Prada & LG Team Up {Luxist}
Dec 2nd 2008 9:48AM I know three people in the fashion industry that got suckered into buying the Prada I. They report that it's absolutely useless as a phone and they regret their purchases. I'm pretty sure the Prada II will be just as useless. However, some people will still buy it because it's got the Prada branding.

Wal-Mart Worker Killed by Black Friday Shoppers {Style List Blog}
Dec 1st 2008 10:32AM While I've never been trampled attending a sale, I have been push and shoved out of the way, by someone so dead-set on a bargain that they didn't care what they had to do to get it.
We all like a good deal. However, I don't think it's worth killing someone just to get it.
Anyway, after becoming fed up with the way weekend shoppers behave, I decided to only shop on those quiet weekdays now: I don't need to be involved in a cattle run to get a bargain that way.
$168,000 Harion speaker set crafted from heat-resistant glass, fairy dust {Engadget}
Dec 1st 2008 1:21AM Shit, I bet one could go to a local glass blower and have this set up made for less than $1000.

Nokia slips out 5 megapixel 6260 slide with AGPS, a first for S40 devices {Engadget}
Nov 26th 2008 11:43AM No, it's not a "poor man's N95" at all. It wouldn't even be in the same category as this new Nokia doesn't run a multi-tasking OS (i.e. it's not a smart phone). Less expensive alternatives to the N95 would be the N79 and N85 that were recently released. Even the 5800 Xpress might be considered more of a N95 alternative, by some, than the 6260 Slide would be.
About Nokia rehashing the N95, I don't really see them doing that. All the N Series phones share certain features and similarities. However, if you're referring to Nokia using the same designs for their form factors (i.e. casing), then, yeah, it could be said they're rehashing. However, they are probably sticking to what works and sells well for them. Big companies, like Nokia, tend to be conservative that way.
Personally, I think that SE lost the plot over the last 2 years with their form factor designs. I don't like that whole ultra-slim thing they're doing at all. The phones feel flimsy because of it. By the way, I used to own a SE W810i. So, it's not like I dislike SE at all.
Samsung phones I haven't had an opportunity to spend any time with. So, I won't comment about them.
Digital sales overtake CDs at Atlantic Records, music pie in general shrinks {Engadget}
Nov 26th 2008 11:24AM Well, maybe if the major record labels released some*interesting* music instead of all that boring Dance-Pop/Thug-Rap shit they'd see a sales increase. And, I agree, the price of CD's should have dropped long ago.
Anyway, fuck 'em and their boring music: I dload all my music for free anyway, because it's mostly from little known artists that make underground stuff. I couldn't buy most of here in New Zealand even if I wanted to because I'd have to import it.

Nov 25th 2008 9:46PM As long as Nokia uses dual high-powered photo LED's on this phone it will probably be comparable to most phone-based Xenon flash solutions.
I was looking at some comparison shoots recently taken with the N95 (dual LED) N82 (Xenon) and N85 (dual photo LED). And, I was amazed to see that the N85 low-light shoots, taken with the phone's dual high-powered photo LEDs, were pretty damned close in quality to the N82 low-lights shoots taken with it's Xenon flash. Therefore, I wouldn't let the lack of Xenon flash put me off this phone.
However, there's one area where Xenon is clearly superior: Fast action shoots. A Xenon flash can 'freeze' the motion because it's so quick. Until they make a photo LED that can do this Xenon will always have the advantage in this area.
Paul McCartney: Beatles on iTunes stalled, I'm not dead {Engadget}
Nov 25th 2008 9:34PM The Beatles were cool in their time, and I enjoyed some of their music. However, their time has come and gone.
Anybody that wants their music in digital format has already got it anyway. So, who gives a fuck about their iTunes negotiations anyway? I don't.
