Rush Limbaugh vs. the electric car on Leno's Green Car Challenge {Autoblog Green}

Sep 22nd 2009 10:25PM But they are still not economical . When the Prius first came out Toyota was losing around 15,000 per car. Im hearing now they are only losing around 5000 per car now.

Better but still not sustainable. The push for this is to fast and will end up making folks upset since the mileage is not that great on many of these cars and the tech may not last. Try using a battery car when its 20 below and 2 feet of snow with little squeaky thin hard rubber tires blown up to 70 psi.

Aint gonna happen.

Sep 10th 2009 4:59PM The battery issue is one thing in the list of issues for electric driven cars, but the big issue is the MAGNETIC Material needed for these high power Electric Motors. Guess who has the largest supply of these Rare Earth magnetic materials......CHINA.

The Neobynium (sp) and other rare earth are being bought up around the world and will likely end up with China as the new Saudi Arabia of magnet material.

If they decide to become the supplier....or the car builder, then where do you go. Pay higher just as in oil..??

REPORT: BP finds big oil in Gulf of Mexico {Autoblog}

Sep 5th 2009 10:08PM This is quite a well. Drilled in close to 5000 feet of water. Then the drilling starts and end up 35,000 feet deep in the earth. I did a lot of work over the last 30 years out there. The reason they havent been out there before is the usual....technology updated did it. The drilling platforms are held in position with GPS, Very LARGE anchor chains that are spread out miles away. OR it may have been a positional rig platform with propellers and motors on all 4 corners to keep it positioned.

But in any case it a big deal. And if they are drilling that deep they are in some new type of pay zones that are much older. I know they have been drilling in what is called the Sub-Salt in the Gulf. They used to not know or think there was oil below the salt domes or layers. But new 3 and 4d Seismology and computers are now starting to be able to see beneath the salt and they are seeing large oil finds below the salt. Some of these huge salt domes come almost to the surface. On a cross section seis chart they look like an underground atom bomg cloud. Mushroom shapee and they are all pure salt plug.

That is what a lot of your natural gas is stored in down in Louisiana. They pump hot water into these big salt domes and wash out the salt. Then you have a big hole that is impervious to the gas and oil so it makes a big storage bin.

Sep 3rd 2009 10:59PM Ask Boeing and the now former CEO of that division. The new Dreamliner is falling apart in little shavings, de-laminations, etc. Now 2 years behind schedule. Sounding iffy every day.

Layering is not working out well.

Jun 28th 2009 11:34PM Thanks, I to was wondering where you get these special Auto Photo camera. They seem incapable of shooting a picture that is from a normal human perspective or eye level. They seem to come with a ladder for pictures of the roof, and a mechanics crawler to take pictures from the ground.

I have driven many years and have yet to see the folks on the sidewalk all fall down and look up under my car.

How about you pseudo photo guys not getting an erection over playing with your camera and just stand up, take a picture of all 4 sides of the car and then go to the interior and then to the next car.

We are not the least bit interested in "artists" just pics of the car like we will see on the street. If the car is sideways, then something is likely wrong.

Thanks
