Florida man cancels Nissan GT-R order due to 'black box' {Autoblog}
Sep 24th 2008 5:32PM They are putting them in the cars at the insistence of the insurnce industry. They want to be able to contest every accident and will have a record of what you were doing wrong.
And believe me YOU are in the wrong. ALL the time to them.
They will also be used by the State to maybe collect milege tax. As more and more cars move to some type of fuel rather than gas to tax by the gallon they will need to tax you some how to get the road tax money back.
Some states are now looking into checking your mileage each month rather than gallons Charge you by the mile instead.
If you have an electric vehicle you need to pay your road tax somehow. So there you go.
Florida man cancels Nissan GT-R order due to 'black box' {Autoblog}
Sep 24th 2008 4:12PM These boxes have been around several years...and yes they are used for and against you.
The insurance companies can subpoena them and get the info , which the do regularly. I believe a lady lost a suit against GM when she said the seat belt didnt work and she was hurt. Well GM got the box and found she did not have it on.
Yes the box still watches if you have it on or not. Most record what happens in the car for each last 30 seconds etc. It monitors speed , steering position, brake appliction, accelerometer reactions , engine rpm, gear selection, temperature outside etc.
Lots of goodies to get you in trouble if you are out doing your best hooning.
Poll: 2011 Chevrolet Volt - which do you prefer, concept or production? {Autoblog Green}
Sep 17th 2008 12:38PM Lutz finally came on TV the other night and went over why it changed so much from the concept.....and it wasnt to hard to figure out once he said:
We put it (the concept) in the wind tunnel and it had the aero of a box car.
Aero is usually important, but with an electric car, the aero is really important. They really went over it with a fine tooth comb to the point of the odd looking wing on the back. It extends PAST the car out the back. This makes the airflow break away from the rear and not create the back flow as usual.

Aug 28th 2008 12:56AM Soon as these manufacturers start putting in a HD Radio tuner in ALL these devices then we may actually pay attention to them. OTherwise will not pay this kind of money for anything.
And these high end AV Receiver have no excuse for charging 1500 for their goods and still no HD Radio. We have 15 new pure digital HD radio stations and we cant listen to them.
HD is FREE Digital radio with many multiplexed sub channels from existing FM stations
Insignia will come to U.S. as a Saturn, with new sheetmetal, interior {Autoblog}
Jul 23rd 2008 5:27PM My god, why would they fitz with it. For gods sake they are likely to turn it into another Saturn.
Leave it alone. Do not let the lady who turned the original Aura design into a more "sophisticated" by removing the big fender flares etc and turned it into a non seller get hold of it. Keep her away , far away.
We want this one. Do not make it more "sophisticated", have.
Widescreen LCDs going widescreen by 2010 {Engadget}
Jul 2nd 2008 10:54AM For TV's this is great...but for laptops it sucks.....When you need as much space VERTICALLY to see more stuff on the screen. And laptops are not a method to watch HD movies. They are to work on.
It terribly difficult to find a decent work machine that doesnt have either the horrendous SHINY screens or the Wide Screen format screen. The shiny screens are horrible to work on in the airport or anywhere with windows or lights. They turn into mirrors and reflect EVERY light source back in your face.
And the smaller vertically screen show less rows in excel and other programs where you need to see a large document.
Best ones are still the ThinkPads period.
Poll: Do you tune into OTA programming? {Engadget HD}
Jun 28th 2008 9:33PM We put an antenna in the attic and also have full Cox cable. The OTA stuff is absolutely stunning. Far better then either the Cable or our Moms Satellite.
Much less compression , crisper...the best Ive ever seen on anything.
