Criterion Collection uses PS3 as reference Blu-ray player {Engadget HD}

Aug 17th 2008 2:44PM There's at leat one HUGE problem with this: I'm sending my PS3 back for the THIRD time because of overheating. My console is completely in the open and as well ventilated and dust free as can be expected yet my original unit was sent back twice and the replacement unit is about to be shipped back. Yes, it has been a bit warm outside but surely the basic design doesn't require an air-conditioned home to coddle it into being quiet. Criterion must be hard up for attention from Purolator drivers. They won't be for long.

Universal exec sez Wanted:Blu-ray as The Matrix:DVD {Engadget HD}

Jun 28th 2008 1:41PM Wanted is the best movie of the year so far, although it will loose 25% of its potential gross simply because its title is bland and forgettable. I don't care if that was the name of the comic book, the name is awful.

May 2nd 2008 1:35PM "consumers are smart enough to know that it's better to wait a month"

Consumer savvy has almost zero to do with it. Most people don't know the difference bewteen codec and duradek. If they're interested, they're walking into a BestBuy and a salesman is selling them whatever technology he has on hand. People aren't buying because they aren't looking.

Google study finds online spots to be as effective as TV ads {Engadget HD}

Apr 5th 2008 10:43PM Just yesterday I read a report that found the EXACT OPPOSITE, that internet ads were no where near as effective as tv ads and that and that people pretty much give zero credibility to internet ads. Of course, the report i read was prepared by Google.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem Blu-ray Disc gets reviewed early {Engadget HD}

Apr 1st 2008 2:19PM I'm in the same boat (playback using a PS3 and no DTS $@#$)

So do you run the audio out from your PS3 undecoded and then let your receiver do the DTS processing?

Some MacBook hard drives contain fatal defect, according to report {Engadget}

Nov 27th 2007 4:55PM ...and that China really can do no good. It's pathetic how whatever China touches turns to crap.
