Blu-ray player prices dropped 12% in Q3, still in just 1.7% of US homes {Engadget HD}

Oct 15th 2008 8:09AM Hmm lets see, If I rent a DVD from Blockbuster I can play it in my car, my home, my laptop, my neighbors home, the in-laws home, on the airplane, the train, hell its endless. But, If I rent or buy a Blu, I can play it at home and maybe at your home because you have a PS3 right? and thats it! I just don't see the numbers ever being able to overtake SD-DVD's until it can do all of the above!!

Acer's AX3200 is the little Blu-ray PC that could, has a 1080p LCD friend {Engadget HD}

Oct 13th 2008 9:41PM Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention that the X3 8400 has been discontinued by AMD. As a matter of fact all X3's ending in 00 are no longer in the X3 family, only 50's (8450, 8350). Beware of purchasing a PC, especially one that is equipped with proprietary hardware from Big box retailers.Cheers

Acer's AX3200 is the little Blu-ray PC that could, has a 1080p LCD friend {Engadget HD}

Oct 13th 2008 9:22PM The AX3200 at Best buy does not include a Blu Player and cost $479. The AX3200 with Blu cost $679 or $200 more. If you really want a AX3200 and want to save some coin, go ahead and the purchase it from BB and by yourself a separate Blu ROM for about $130.

Road to G1 has been a three-year endeavor for Google, HTC {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 25th 2008 9:43PM @TareX

Standford student, Google employee please, "Google" came from the word "googol" which means 1 to the power of 100. So basically 1 with 100 zeroes after it. It's a BIG number get it!

Looks are in the eye of the beholder and no doubt, just like the Prius is not for everyone, this particular model is not either. As far as the software goes, its like a D.I.Y. Bare Bones PC build in which you decide what additional hardware and software rounds out the final spec. If you like a proprietary spec'd OS, you go with Windows, if not you go with Linux and the same rules apply with the G1 vs I phone. Want a Video Player, add one, want to upload your Contacts, get a Gmail account, and if you want to plug in earphones, use the supplied proprietary dongle. Early adopters will purchase this phone and by the end of the 1st quarter expect at least a half a dozen phones using the Android OS at which time Android will be on the minds of every other major Cell Phone manufacture.

Sony's BDP-S300 1080p Blu-ray player sinks below $200 {Engadget HD}

Sep 21st 2008 9:00PM Supply and Demand (High Supply and Low Demand) = under $200...To really get this moving, we the consumer need to see even lower price points due the cost of media generating more than enough margins...ie BD Live Under $300, BD 2.0 Under $200 and BD 1.0 $100

Hands-on with Sprint's Touch Pro {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 11th 2008 5:12PM Love at first sight? Sex appeal yes, but not from a function over form standpoint. Heck on the Pro, Gps is not free and must be purchased at an add'l cost. I have been with Treo since the 180 (pre 9/11) and I still have not found a smart phone that has wowed me enough to get rid of it. Sure, these new phones sure are purretty, but the Treo is a Man phone, no chic appeal whatsoever. I thinks its time I use that $150 rebate from Sprint, hawk my 700p on Craigslist and close the deal on a 800w (Gps Included)!!
