Poll: What Blu-ray player will you be picking up? {Engadget HD}

Feb 20th 2008 1:53PM I caught that on blu, pretty stupid movie, but some sick visuals. STAY AWAY FROM THE SAMSUNG BD-P1400. I have one, great picture, but the audio gets out of sync all the time. I guess it's a common problem.

Two-thirds of Americans think nanotechnology is morally unacceptable -- wait, what? {Engadget}

Feb 20th 2008 8:40AM 2/3rds of americans don't believe in evolution. That being said...

nanotech holds a lot of risks that aren't fully understood. And currently there is little to no oversight on the industry, which allows for possibly toxic substances whose effects are completely unknown to be created and dispersed. Hit up a few google searches to see that it's not all good. The industry needs oversight.

Fan-made PSP mockup is far sexier than the real thing will ever be {Engadget}

Feb 11th 2008 2:39PM is there a manufacturer out there that can make a screen with no bezel?

Samsung sued for defective Blu-ray players {Engadget}

Feb 11th 2008 2:09PM ur an idiot blarg. The top samsung LCD's (65, 69, 71, 81) are equaled only by Sony's XBR's, which are far more expensive. The Sony V3000 and W3000 are comparable to the 65, but that's about it. Samsung tv's put out an unbelievable picture, and for far less than equivalent Sony's. Everyone else falls short. So THERE'S a reason to buy something from Samsung...

Samsung sued for defective Blu-ray players {Engadget}

Feb 11th 2008 2:05PM I've got the 1400 as well. The picture is fantastic, but the audio and video sometimes get out of synch and you have to rewind it to get them back in line. Pretty annoying. I bought Across the Universe the day it came out, and had to do this 6 times throughout the movie...

NIP in Paris uses Piaggio MP3 scooters for taxi service {Autoblog Green}

Feb 11th 2008 9:32AM Sure I'd use it. They have tons of guys on motorcycles in small cities in Peru riding around beeping their horns looking to pick up passengers. They charge a bit less than a regular cab, people use them. But I wouldn't want to use some ratty shared helmet...

Brennan intros JB7 Micro Jukebox with lossless CD ripping {Engadget}

Feb 7th 2008 11:35AM $760 for an 80GB CD ripper? huh? you could buy a computer with a 320GB drive for less, and do quite a bit more than rip cd's. I guess the extra cost goes towards the quarterly cd-by-mail updates they'll be sending you. I'll stick with iTunes and the CDDB database for now, thanks though...

Poll: Be honest with yourself, are you still happy with DVD? {Engadget}

Feb 7th 2008 11:24AM Bluray looks amazing. There are a few HD channels that come close, but most don't even compare. And HD-DVD will probably fall soon. That being said, Bluray can be annoying. Every now and then (up to 5 or 6 times during a 2 hour movie) the audio will pause or pop, then come back out of sych with the video. You can get it back by rewinding to before the initial flub, then pressing play, but it's pretty irritating to have to sit remote-in-hand watching a movie you just paid $30 for on a player you just paid $300 for. Is this caused by the excessive encryption? I mean comon, how many of us bother to rip DVD's, let alone 50GB bluray discs. It's not even worth the hassle for 98% of the public. How big is your hard drive? I've got 750GB of space, and I still don't have enough to be stealin all the movies netflix is sendin my way. Nor could I fit even half of my DVD collection on there. Take a deep breath hollywood, you'll be in business a while methinks....

Garmin's nuvifone flaunted on video {Engadget}

Feb 6th 2008 9:54AM I'd think that one over. Go try out the horribly unresponsive touchscreen on the Garmin nuvi 760 or similar. You've got to hit the thing with a hammer to get anything out of it. If the phone has the same issues, I wouldn't go near it. It's insanely frustrating to type on, as you have to look up after each keystroke to see if it registered or not(and more often than not, it didn't).

Zotye electric SUV: $20,000, highway speed, 100-mile range and just 60 DAYS AWAY! {Autoblog Green}

Feb 5th 2008 2:15PM I almost believed this story, until you said they'd have a fuel cell out in August. I'm callin bullshit on this one...
