Czech Republic says HD channels shouldn't be delivered OTA for free {Engadget HD}
Nov 26th 2008 2:45PM How in do you enforce OTA HD as a pay service? Scramble it and require people to purchase a descrambler, ala the ON TV days? In totality, FAIL.
Court bans sales of RealDVD indefinitely {Engadget}
Oct 9th 2008 11:58AM Yup.. let's see... Hollywood is just stopping Joe Sixpack from copying his DVDs legally. Currently your DVD library + Rip-It-4-Me + DVD Decrypter + DVD Shrink + Virtual CD + Handbrake = solution to playing your media anywhere you want. Sure it takes a few extra minutes to re-code with Handbrake, but hey, it is 100% free with exception of Virtual CD.
This is all theory, of course, because I would never DO this stuff since it removes the disc encryption. *cough*

Sep 19th 2008 1:25PM Aww, look at Paul, aka 'tracert'. He's trying to hide behind another name, but clearly he's new at this because he used the same email address. Why is that, Paul? Trying to make it seem like someone else is supporting your views?
You = FAIL

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore's_law
"Almost every measure of the capabilities of digital electronic devices is linked to Moore's law"
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/M/Moores_Law.html
"In subsequent years, the pace slowed down a bit, but data density has doubled approximately every 18 months, and this is the current definition of Moore's Law, which Moore himself has blessed."
And finally:
http://www.scienceagogo.com/news/moore.shtml
"In my view, [Moore's Law] is one manifestation (among many) of the exponential growth of the evolutionary process that is technology. The exponential growth of computing is a marvelous quantitative example of the exponentially growing returns from an evolutionary process. We can also express the exponential growth of computing in terms of an accelerating pace: it took ninety years to achieve the first MIPS (million instructions per second) per thousand dollars, now we add one MIPS per thousand dollars every day."
I guess Ray Kurtzweil sharing the same opinion that I do about Moore's law makes him uneducated? Shall I post more, or do you just want to shut your hole right now?

Sep 17th 2008 4:37PM In a world where hard disks are rated in TB, 50GB is nothing. By the time they have a couple TB capacity, hard disks will be rated in PB. Ain't Moore's Law a bitch?

Sep 10th 2008 7:45PM Concerning religion, Carlin said it best:
"When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in *awe* of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But he loves you. He loves you, and he needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!"
Verizon gets official with Washington FiOS TV rollout {Engadget HD}
Sep 10th 2008 6:07PM "For users in the area who sign up prior to October 4th, they'll receive a free year with an HD DVR or an HD Home Media DVR; unfortunately, you'll have to be in select parts of Bothell, Brier, Everett, Edmonds, Kenmore, Lynnwood, Woodinville, Woodway and Snohomish County (for now) in order to take advantage."
This sentence is poorly worded, and makes it sound like by signing up that people get a free year of service. Not true. They get a year of HD DVR without being charged the DVR fees.
The Verizon site explicitly states it as the following:
First month FREE (select packages) + FREE activation
Select any DVR and get it FREE for 12 months
HBO & Cinemax FREE for first 30 days
