Warhawk update v1.4 hits July 16 {PS3 Fanboy}
Jul 16th 2008 12:51PM Yea it is great news for Warhawk owners. Gives me even more incentive to play the game longer. I really want to try that Hero Mode thing.
Also, about FF13 for the 360, I don't think it'll be much different from the PS3 version. SE said they're aiming to keep the 2 versions the same but may have to compress the FMVs and Sound to make it fit on the DVDs for the X360. PS3 version will be better, but unless you have a good sound system and a nice big HDTV, it shouldn't matter.
Seeing as I DO have the HDTV and audio system due to my love for watching blu-ray movies and playing PS3 games to it's fullest, I'm getting the PS3 version.
We take an in-depth look at Qore {PS3 Fanboy}
Jun 6th 2008 11:52AM hmm... looks promising but I'll have to wait until I see more before I start doing the annual thing.
SonyNEC Optiarc projects sub-$100 Blu-ray optical drives by year's end {Engadget HD}
Jun 6th 2008 4:16AM I hope this means sub $200 (around $150 range preferably) stand alone players as well.
SonyNEC Optiarc projects sub-$100 Blu-ray optical drives by year's end {Engadget}
Jun 6th 2008 4:14AM I know these are for comps and all but I wonder if this means that we'll see sub $200 stand alone players by the holiday season as well.
Don't pay for Qore, wait for demos {PS3 Fanboy}
Jun 4th 2008 12:05AM Hm... cheaper version of LIVE. Only $25 a year eh? Not too bad. I think I'll be ok with staying free though. Since I'll still be able to play online.
Yoko Shimomura anticipates no musical limitations on PS3 {PS3 Fanboy}
Jun 3rd 2008 3:18AM I hope this means FFXIII will have 7.1 LPCM. Heck, I wish more PS3 games in general gets 7.1 LPCM in the future.
I know lots of PS3 exclusives (1st party games) have 7.1 LPCM. Just wish the non exclusives get some more sound love and all. Not sure how hard that will be though.
I'm guessing LPCM for PS3 then compress it for X360 games? Meh, sounds too simple.
EGM refuses to review MGS4 due to Konami-imposed restrictions {PS3 Fanboy}
Jun 2nd 2008 1:09PM Meh, could care less. Not a fan of 1up/EGM. Their reviewers/critics are pretty much xbots who inflate X360 games scores/grades, and tend to rate most (if not all) games made for other consoles (PS3 and Wii) with a lower score/grade it deserves.
Plus they'll never ding points for the X360 games if the PS3 version is slighty better but definately will ding PS3 scores if the X360 counterpart is better.
BDA granting 11 China-based manufacturers with Blu-ray licenses? {Engadget HD}
Jun 1st 2008 1:08PM Let's go Blu-ray!
I'm hoping this means cheaper (price and hopefully not quality) blu-ray players in the market soon. This way there's a chance for mass adoption. Oh and cheaper discs would be nice too (though Amazon pricing isn't bad, there's still a lot of people who buy from those brick and mortar stores, where disc prices are outrageous).
Also, though I know digital distribution is supposedly the new thing, I don't want to ditch my disc format. At least not yet, since I haven't seen anything thats on par with the HD discs yet.
PS3 firmware v2.30 walkthrough: DTS-HD MA support / new PS Store included {Engadget HD}
Apr 10th 2008 12:26PM yes.....finally. And to whoever made that bitstream comment. I don't think the PS3 can do that.
Interview with SCE engineers reveal BD-Live, firmware plans {PS3 Fanboy}
Apr 8th 2008 10:12PM well there's that and the PS3 just physically can not output bitstream due to its HDMI not being 1.3a. They need to make a new PS3 sku w/ that just so they can bitstream. Currently the PS3 can only internally decode and output the HD sound in PCM no matter what settings you put it on.
Until this news came up, I almost gave up and considered buying a standalone that can bitstream the data. Since, I have a receiver that can decode the HD audio codecs and all.
