Jul 1st 2008 9:59PM Hey, I'm not plugging another show Kaycee. I'm just pointing out that this is yet another American copy of a foreign show. It is surprisingly well done - many other copies suck compared to the original. Would you be saying this if I were commenting on the British version of "The Office" vs. the US version? Same difference babe.
When you make a copy, you better be prepared to be compared to the original. Chill out sourpuss.

Jul 1st 2008 5:01PM "oh, and no one cares about the Japanese version."
Sorry, wrong answer - have fun with the home game and your lovely parting gifts. The Japanese show is so good there are several different versions. In fact, Spike TV's version (MXC) is a hilarious re-edit of Takeshi's Castle. If no one cared, then this show wouldn't even exist in the first place.
Being a big fan of MXC, I really had my doubts that this version would last more than an episode or two but I have to admit, I laughed my ass off last week. I'm definitely going to tune in tonight and I know it will be just as funny. It is great to hear the king of snark, John Henson once again and Jill Wagner is great too. They're no Vic Romano or Kenny Blankenship but they're better than I expected.
As far as the contestants go, well they pretty much get what they signed up for. Regardless, I can't get enough of those giant red balls! Ummm... you know what I mean...

Saving Grace season two: An early look {TV Squad}
Jun 30th 2008 7:59PM Jane, this show is an amazing piece of work and I am very glad that it is finally coming back for S2. You (and everyone that hasn't seen it yet) need to set the time aside to catch up when S1 is released on DVD. As fantastic as TNT was for bringing Kyra Sedgwick and "The Closer" into our lives, Grace just blows right by as if Kyra were standing still. I'm still amazed the show didn't get canceled midseason because of all the sex, drinking, swearing and violence - but I'm sure glad it didn't.
I've talked to so many friends that were put off by how awful and coarse a person Grace (and by default, the show) seems. It took a few shows before it grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me HARD but after that point I was hooked bad. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people gave up before they really understood the show and are missing out on some fantastic television. Hopefully, S2 will get their attention and they can do some catching up as well. Holly Hunter ROCKS!!
My only complaint (and its a small one actually) is that the show tries TOO hard to play like they are in Ok City. I lived there for 30 years and appreciate many of the little things (whoo-hoo!!! Johnnie's burgers!!!) but come on, there's WAY too much tacky OU stuff that no self redeeming fan would actually put up the way they do. Add the wrong areas of town and wrong directions or street names pronounced incorrectly and it takes it down a notch for me. It was especially bad during the tornado episode last season - one of the best eps of the season otherwise. Nitpicking, yeah probably so but when they get that other 99% so good I just want it to be perfect!

Jun 29th 2008 7:29AM Sorry, brain fart there. Meant to say "Le Mans" and I missed on the dates. It was actually the late '80s. Here's a link to the car:

Let's just say that the GTO lost any attraction for me when it moved to the "Ventura" and started competing in the "compact muscle car" category. Just... Not... The... Same...

Jun 28th 2008 12:27PM Absolutely agreed. Retire the badge if you intend on creating a completely different car. This is the same as Pontiac bringing back the bastardized GTO badge on their version of the Chevette back in the '70s (ok, so this goes the other direction!). They just aren't the same car at all.
"It won't stand out, either, but who ever bought an Acura to stand out?"
Ummm... try the people who bought the ORIGINAL NSX!!!

Jun 28th 2008 9:34AM no, I love the fact that he's working at the Sporting Goods store in the same shopping center. It actually makes perfect sense that they come in and play games on their lunch hour - the same thing happens where my son works! Cameo or no, this has potential. Heck, I'd LOVE to see Rachel Bilson come back again this season. Her role was far from "stunt casting".
Even Paris Hilton has some good in her {TV Squad}
Jun 28th 2008 9:16AM You know, to the kids that will receive treatment at this center it won't matter what the motivation was for giving the money to them. I have to believe that since no dollar figure was attached to the story that it's not really being done for the publicity.
It's always been said that the "public" Paris is nothing like the "private" Paris - that the shtick is just an act for the entertainment of all of those watching. Bottom line, this gesture will result in helping a lot of kids for a long time. I can't see how any of that is bad.
