Jan 19th 2008 4:37PM Quite useful indeed, but shouldn't the grid include launch dates for each model..? - the way it is now it is hard to tell if a product is already on the market or only announced, if it is still in production (older models) etc.

Nov 16th 2007 6:26AM A lot of first gen DVD players 10 yrs ago had serious problems with Dual layer DVD's, simply because noone had produced DVD9 at the time they were launched (anyone remember the DVD10 flippers..?)
Even if it turns out that current players are not compatible with TL51, I do not see this any more of a problem than it was back then - A lot of the people who has jumped on the HD DVD (or BD for that matter) bandwaggon at this time, are people whom I doubt would expect a first (or even second) generation player of a new format to last very long under their TV. Even without TL51, a lot of early adopters would go out and buy the next generation players when they become available.

Confusion reigns among growing HDTV install base {Engadget HD}
Nov 12th 2007 11:32AM One thing that certainly must add to the confusion regarding whether their player is HD capaple or not, is all the (SD DVD) recorders with built-in harddrive out there. These harddrives are often called HDD or even HD in add.
Also as mentioned above, upscaling SD DVD players create further confusion - I recently bought an upscaling Pioneer player (knowing well that it was "only" an upscaling model, not HDM compatible), and one thing I noticed was that the sticker on the front of the player had "1080p" in larger letters than anything else on the facia.
Can you blame "so-called regular people" for being confused, then..?
