LG.Philips unveils 100-inch LCD display {Engadget}

Mar 13th 2006 4:08PM "What the h*ll would you need with with a 100in."

You have obviously never enjoyed the big screen home theater experience. There just ain't nothing like it - don't knock it 'til ya try it.

I currently am running 95.5" screen on my main setup, and am looking for to the next step up.

DirecTV and EchoStar bringing WiMax service to US? {Engadget}

Jan 30th 2006 5:51PM Bring on the comp, more=better.

Though I'm not sure I'd trust DirecTV, it'd be hard for them to do worse than Charter.

Pre-order your HD DVDs or Blu Ray titles from Amazon {Engadget HD}

Jan 30th 2006 5:47PM Yeah, I'll be doing rentals too. I don't seem to delve into the collection that often, so I'll be waiting on the format and prices to settle as well.

Pre-order your Toshiba HD-A1 HD DVD player {Engadget}

Jan 27th 2006 7:36PM If I wait for anything, it'll be to see which format takes dominance.

It's way too early in the game to make a solid call.

4 million pieces of HD content downloaded from Xbox Live {Engadget HD}

Jan 27th 2006 7:33PM I definitely think it's next gen enough.

It's the beginning of the product life cycle. I think some may be expecting too much too soon. I think others still expect too much overall. I mean, what do they want the 360 to do, clean and press their pants?

It's a game console, I expect better graphics and sound from next gen. Gameplay is gameplay and it evolves independent of console generations. The 360 has already produced, and I look forward to the future as developers learn to harness the power.

What I do find annoying is how people say the 360 must really be hurting for quality titles if everyone is so thrilled with Xbox Live Arcade. Hello, new ways of playing games is what it's all about. I'm never played any kind of tetris or puzzle game, but I got hooked on Hexic for hours the other day.

Old arcade titles aren't generally worth picking up for 20 bucks for the compilations. But 5 bucks to relive some Joust or some other classic? That's a no-brainer.

It ain't perfect, but I think they got it right.

InFocus announces three upcoming Play Big DLP front projectors {Engadget}

Dec 22nd 2005 6:30PM A new InFocus 720p DLP projector for a list of $2500? Not overpriced a bit!

The only thing in that range for 720p DLP projection is the Mitsubishi HC3000, which has a couple of kinks to work out, and sells for 3 grand.

I'm looking very forward to the IN76.

12 HD Days of Christmas: Day 8 {Engadget HD}

Dec 22nd 2005 6:23PM No love for DVE?

It rates a bit higher on my bang-for-buck-o-meter. (17 bucks vs 37 at Amazon)

Seems like I read someone had trouble with Avia on Xbox 360, but don't quote me on that.

What's with all the collaboration lately? Say goodbye to VGA, UDI is coming {Engadget HD}

Dec 22nd 2005 6:13PM "but my gut tells me they're plugging some DRM holes and we get to pay for it"

Bingo, time to bend over. I agree that a unified connection would be great, but did we need yet another spec to do it?

Toshiba doubles your projector pleasure {Engadget HD}

Dec 14th 2005 5:43PM Hmmm, does anyone even consider 4:3 AR for HT anymore?

What's in store for home theaters? In-stat thinks they know {Engadget HD}

Dec 7th 2005 4:54PM >Portable player products and online download services are likely to lead industry growth, especially in Europe and Asia. Interesting point, I've been in a running argument with a couple of buds that online downloads just aren't going to cut it in the states, IMO. They're both all over downloads and movies on demand, but I just don't see it happening for HD. I think HD is the driving force behind it all, or at least most of it. We do agree that Hollywood is in for even more decline, though. If it weren't for the typical "dinner and a movie" date I'd say they already have one foot in the grave.
