Can your HDTV even properly display 1080p24? {Engadget HD}
Feb 21st 2008 7:37PM At the risk of sounding naive, is there any noticeable difference between 3-2 pulldown and real 1080p/24? Or is this more a marketing tool a la Deep Color?
HDMI execs clear the air on various topics {Engadget HD}
Jan 8th 2008 11:12AM HDMI =! DRM - you're thinking of HDCP which is an *optional* protocol that can applied to AV streams transmitted via HDMI. That's like saying that TCP/IP is a DRM-encumbered protocol because you download iTunes songs over it.

Dec 28th 2007 11:28AM The one thing about the "no 1080p on the HD-A3", HD-DVD sux" argument is that unless you're running 1080p/24, which a large number of sets don't support, there is *no* difference between 1080p and 1080i if your TV does proper deinterlacing (which 90% of the LCDs currently on the market do). I concluded that it simply wasn't worth another $100 to get 1080p/24 (the price delta between the A3 and the A30) at the time) and I suspect many more made the same decision. Blade Runnier on an HD-A3 looks frickin' GREAT.

Dec 26th 2007 12:08PM Ryan: The film was shot in spanish, the theatrical release had English subtitles. I would expect the DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray release would do the same. Dubbed dialogue is teh suck.
Comcast sues the FCC for forcing them to play fair {Engadget HD}
Nov 3rd 2007 9:10AM Nah, let me know when they force Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, et al to resell their fiber infrastructure at wholesale (like the Telecom Act says) and THEN I'll call the FCC pro-consumer.
