Netgear's EVA2000 Digital Entertainer Live gets reviewed: decent, but lacking {Engadget}
Oct 22nd 2009 2:39PM I just picked up a Asus O!Play for $99 yesterday.
It plays EVERTHING I've thrown at it - thru HDMI (video and sound). MKV, AVI, xVid etc.. 1080p no prob
All streaming from my Synology NAS with ease.
Epic Fail!
Samsung Moment unboxed! {Engadget}
Oct 21st 2009 12:21PM I’ve owned two HTC devices for Sprint (The Mogul and Touch Pro). Both have lacked in build quality. I’m glad Samsung is making this phone personally. Also – the HTC interface it bloated trash IMHO (for winmo that is)
I'm looking forward to this one.

Oct 21st 2009 11:37AM I could not agree more kh2. Don't these people USE the phone they make for a day or two? Some very obvious usability studies would be in order.
Will Windows 7 boot faster than Vista? Don't bet on it {Download Squad}
Oct 11th 2009 12:49PM Microsoft gets bashed for performance unnecessarily. Firstly, a LOT of software loads crapware and services into startup. Adobe, Java Installshield.. etc etc.. load services and tasks that check for updates and the like. Each one slows the boot time (and system ) a bit.
Also, depending on the virus scanner, they are the culprit with a LOT of the boot time slowdowns. They check all the files on startup, a somewhat necessary but resource intensive process.
Do a fresh format, load all your drivers and windows updates then stopwatch the boot times. A WORLD of difference.
Windows Mobile 6.5: a family portrait {Engadget}
Oct 6th 2009 9:06PM I’ve been running Winmo 6.5 for months now. I have to say it’s the WORST interface I’ve seen in a while. Why do I need MASSIVE text labels like “Voicemail”.. etc, that cause needless scrolling. I’m not an iPhone fan by any means, but they got the interface right. How about an Icon with a superscript or subscript number for indicators.
Also – the HTC addon is another culprit. Needless scrolling, for the sake of a Massive clock on the home screen. We all need the time displayed larger than life right?
D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685 storage router now shipping {Engadget}
Oct 6th 2009 3:29PM Looks like a great idea - the LCD is kindaof a waste.. wish they made a cheaper one without it.
Das Keyboard Ultimate S unleashed for the tactile experience-loving typist {Engadget}
Oct 5th 2009 1:24PM I used a factory IBM keyboard on my PC for years. It was an exact copy of the IBM selectric typewriter. This was $100 YEARS ago. I finally retired them (I had two). I do miss the tactile feel.
People amaze me on many levels. To use a cheap crappy keyboard all day baffles me. Two things communicate with your computer, your
hands and your eyes. This means a good keyboard and monitor.
I am totally interesting in this keyboard. But I do see it’s not for everyone.
PS - Carleton - I agree with you. I'm not a super typist, but I write computer code and administer networks. Password, odd symbols etc.
VIDEO: Crooked valet attendants caught in Los Angeles {Autoblog}
Oct 2nd 2009 3:52PM I always HATED giving my car to anyone I don’t know. This is one of my bigger assets, also one that can be easily mis-used… and I am giving the keys to some schmuck?
I never valet, unless I am TOTALLY option less. I have walked blocks not to do so.
This is from the time I has a used Toyota corolla, to the BMW M6 convertible I drive today.
HTC Leo benchmarked, leaves blisters {Engadget}
Sep 28th 2009 1:30AM 300% Increase... not a chance with HTC. They will develop some bloated porky badly constructed interface.. and slow it down 400%...
God only know why why why do companies feel obligated to push the hardware well past it's capacity - ALL THE FRIGGEN TIME.
AT&T launching 3G Microcell in some markets in the next few days? {Engadget}
Sep 18th 2009 4:25PM I have sprint because of Airrave. It works great. I live in a hilly area, no phone covers well. Although I hate ATT.. this does bring up another option.
