Dec 12th 2007 1:34PM Do you have sex with your BD player? That might explain the ridiculous comments/ideas you have in this format war.

Warner to finally go Blu-ray-only at CES? {Engadget HD}

Dec 7th 2007 4:13PM Kids being the operative word. Statements like "and who wants a standalone player when you can get a whole Game console/mediacenter and a Blu-ray player in a PS3" make it obvious.

Because I DON'T WANT A GAMING CONSOLE. There are other market demographics out there that extend beyond 16-24 PS3 fanboys. I don't want the look of a gaming console in the AV rack. I am not alone in this. And flipah, just in case you haven't noticed, we here in the US, don't give a f'n ratsass about what you do in Europe, and we haven't for centuries. We do things our own way, and are the envy of the world, whether people want to admit it or not.

Warner to finally go Blu-ray-only at CES? {Engadget HD}

Dec 7th 2007 3:45PM I guess with my bachelors and masters in electrical engineering and working for Qualcomm's high performance RF/Analog group designing DACs, ADCs, and PLLs means I'm stupid when it comes to technical know-how as I chose to support HD-DVD first. because it WAS technically EQUAL and better in functionality. Oh yeah, cheaper too.

Seriously, you Blu-Ray or die supporters need to seriously have your logic and evaluation skills checked if you chose BD solely for technical reasons.

Warner to finally go Blu-ray-only at CES? {Engadget HD}

Dec 7th 2007 2:14PM I was in the same boat, until I realized that this thing isn't going to end for a long time. So I took the opportunity to buy and HD-DVD for a cheap price and a good chunk of movies, knowing full well that I'll end up buying a dual format player later when the prices come down and the technology matures a little more. I have an 1080i CRT and 768p LCD, so I had nothing to lose with getting an A3, except missing out on the HD-DVD releases.

Now I'm somewhat shielded by the war with having the intention of buying a dual format player as long as some studios remain exclusive :( as some may say that many people don't have the money to buy 2 players. Please, how much money do most people spend on their TV, or replacement/secondary players, or movie libraries, or gaming systems every 2 years, or ......I will bet most people who decide to get into this can afford another player in a year or two once prices come down. So why not just buy one now that you like and not worry about it.

Warner to finally go Blu-ray-only at CES? {Engadget HD}

Dec 7th 2007 1:35PM I have been saying this for months. Just wish it would happen.

Dec 7th 2007 12:40PM They'll stay neutral. Just like how I wish every studio would be, and let the consumer decide.

Sony rumored to give PS3 owners Blu-ray Profile 1.1 for Christmas {Engadget HD}

Dec 7th 2007 11:41AM Because they would lose a ton of money, just like Sony is with every PS3. The other manufactures are quite happy to see Sony lose all the money to push the BD format, and Sony is willing. So why sell them cheaper and lose money, when you can sell fewer, but at profits?

Will 2008 be the year for Selectable Output Control? {Engadget HD}

Dec 6th 2007 2:58PM If DirecTV ever does this to more than just PPV channels, I'll cancel my account immediately. I have an older HD set and if I have to buy a new set or watch downconverted content to get the content to it, fuck it. My OTA antenna will be my new best friend. I'm not going to pay $100 a month for the premium package to watch TV the way I want without having to buy new hardware to satisfy the insecurities of companies whose policies only promote more piracy. Are you reading this DirecTV or Dish or Cable Company?
