GM could then make a "special" cab version of the car...
One that could either:
a) have a larger tank
b) have more batteries
It would be awesome if they would come out with some easy charge system..
Something that could be installed say in the floor of my garage... when the car is parked in the garage, it automatically starts to charge... and stops when "topped off"
They are NOT going to get it 100% perfect in the first version.
Heck... in 60 years (main stream years of auto-production)...
How many NEW models and designs were 100% perfect...
How many were still not perfect after 10 years of modifications....
How many cars are now on nearly 60 years of "design" and yet still have something that can be tweaked out.
Seriously....
If the car truely will get 40 miles to a charge...
I could honestly see me only filling the car once a month... during a BAD month.. $50 a month (with current prices)... is a HECK of a lot better then the near $400 I drop now... Heck that $350 a month savings will probably be my monthly car payment for the new volt...

The car will be even more efficient do to it's lighter weight... which means less fuel over the lifetime of the car. Heck it is even possible that you will SAVE money because you fill up later on... Price today: $4.25 a gallon. Price in three weeks... $4.20 a gallon... so, instead of 25 gallons at $4.25, you save on the second half... (now granted the reverse could be true also)
Maybe it is a corrupt deal with the mini-mart guy...
Since you now have to make a stop to refill and buy a twinkie or a $1 64oz beverage.
Originally 25 gallon tank...
Now 12 gallon tank...
300 miles on one 12 gallon fill... FOR LONG TRAVEL...
Local travel... you could go a full month without filling up..
All I know is... how can I get my name on the list to pre-order one.
My now 11 year old Malibu is starting to get on it's last legs and I have been holding out for a "green" car... the Volt fits EXACTLY my usage pattern.

Still... today.. In Oak Lawn, my mother can not get U-Verse.
She is on one of the main roads of the city... about 1 mile from the city hall... No U-Verse yet (need to get her off COMCAST)
In Orland Park... My In-Laws.. nope, can't get U-Verse.
Not at their home, Not at their business, nor even at my old home address. They too are on a major road in Orland Park, less then two miles from one of the largest malls in the area.
When I lived there... I was one of the first to get DSL (almost 8 years ago now)... My In-Laws... one of the first areas to get upgraded digital cable and other services... but no UVerse

Tinley Park, where I live now... supposidly has been wired up, when you talk to the tech's... and we are in an area, that they have been working on for a while now.... nope... can't get UVerse here either.
So what am I getting at... U-Verse right now, is still just marketing and advertising here for most of the people in the areas that they say can get it.
You call and ask... they give you a run-around, and they have "no-eta" on when it will be available...
So where "is it" available exactly... That is a LOT of cities that "should" have it...

Can't vote for what they feel is the better DVR (Regardless of which one they pick).
And this doesn't result in skewing... how?
So the poll should have been hidden for the user base that uses the product?

As for the "monthly fee"... you would pay that fee, if you owned the equipment too... it is called a mirroring fee in that case. So you could pay the $199 lease amount... with the $4.99 monthly fee (noted as LEASE fee on your bill)... or you could pay the $499 to own amount for the receiver, and pay the $4.99 monthly mirroring fee...

When the HR20 was first introduced it was $299.
Since then the HR21 was released.... and now the price is down to $199
The HR20 are no longer being produced... and after the AM21 is released to market, the HR20 will only be issued by DirecTV as a direct replacement to HR20's that are having issues.
Why it seperate? The cost factor... ~$60 to include the ATSC equipment in the DVR.
With DirecTV now having HD coverage via SAT in over 70 markets (with the majority having the big 4, not all ... but most).... there is a SIGNIFICANT population that do not need, nor want ATSC tuning.
For Example... MDU installations, often don't have support for ATSC/OTA....
The savings for DirecTV and ultimately the customers not having to pay for that unneeded equipment in the box.
And this then gives those customers that want that feature, the option to have it.
So they had two choices:
1) Increase the cost of the HR21 to all customers regardless if they needed ATSC or NOT
2) Lower the cost of the HR21, and offer an add-on box so only those that want the additional features, can obtain it.

What price did you pay for themat the Consumer Eletronics store? The $199 or the full price ownership price of $499 (or $800+ when they were first release).
The 2 year commitment is only for the addition of an advanced receiver, not when you just add HD service to your account (if you already had the equipment, but didn't have HD activated)
Anyway, back on topic...
I have received confirmation that this is not expected to be a lengthy extended delay, and was more of a minor... "lets make sure that is right" delay.
