Washington Mystics to get four HD games on Comcast SportsNet {Engadget HD}

May 12th 2008 5:58AM What? You mean all the WNBA fans are located in Washington DC?

Criterion Collection coming to Blu-ray in October {Engadget HD}

May 8th 2008 4:57AM Unfrotunately, Criterion can't re-issue, Silence of the Lambs, Robocop and This is Spinal Tap. MGM took full control of the titles, so Criterion's distribtuion rights are gone.

Batman: The Movie makes a Blu-ray first {Engadget HD}

Mar 26th 2008 12:47AM While WB already released Charlie & The Chocolate factory on HD DVD with an isolated score on HD DVD, they have yet to release it on Blu-ray. Fox just beat them, and everyone else, to the punch on Blu-ray.

It's nice to see there are actually new supplements on this disc as well.

THX Chief Scientist: "It's too late for Blu-ray" {Engadget HD}

Mar 25th 2008 5:02PM Maybe he's just bitter... THX must have gone to the studios and said, "Our HD mastering program is ready!" and the studios must have looked at them like a herd of bored cows... "Really? I thought you we're dead on the Disc based market?"

Honestly, what's the last "THX Certified" DVD that you bought that wasn't from Lucasfilm? Even Disney isn't using them anymore.

FSN Bay Area re-launching as Comcast SportsNet Bay Area {Engadget HD}

Mar 20th 2008 10:26PM It depends on the situation. FSN Bay Area was unique because it is partially owned by Comcast, since they started the original sports channel in the Bay Area. We're talking Giantsvision days. I'm not sure if the rest of the FSN's are co-operations.

HD DVD and Blu-ray releases on March 18th, 2008 {Engadget HD}

Mar 17th 2008 11:28AM It was fairly apparent at the end of February that both Universal and Paramount wanted to wash their hands of this mess. After Beowulf, neither studio was even mentioning HD DVD in their ads. It was funny, I knew something was up with Bee Movie at the start of March when Dreamworks started running their ads. From the second they hit, the only mentioned DVD.

Comcast sues FCC for not letting it own anything it wants {Engadget HD}

Mar 14th 2008 10:14PM Well, I see Comcast is making their preemptive strike so they buy TWC when Time Warner decides to unload them.

I guess it was inevitable when Comcast & TWC made their deal out here in California, when they split up Adelphia's assets/subscribers. Comcast willing exited Southern California, while TWC exited Northern California.

This will be fun...

NFL Network allows Patriots vs. Giants Simulcast on NBC & CBS {Engadget HD}

Dec 27th 2007 1:54AM Here's how it was broken down...

1. As noted, since this is and AFC vs NFC matchup, and the NFC team is hosting, this would have been a CBS broadcast normally.

2. Had this game been on Sunday, this would have been eligible for NBC's Flex Game, and if you think they wouldn't haven't taken this over IND vs TENN, you're high.

3. For Dunn, yes, that means the New York market, and I assume Boston market, will have the game on four channels.

The only networks left in the cold were ESPN and Fox. This is probably because ESPN's contract is Monday Night Football exclusive, and that Fox normally would not have been eligible to carry the game since it is interconfrence and hosted by the NY Giants.
