Jan 28th 2008 7:50AM Anybody thinking that HD DVD is dead or they are on the way out are clearly in a delusional state. Theyve been victimised by Sony & the BDAs baseless propaganda.
Mark my words, the HD DVD Promotional Group havent even started to fight back just yet. Once they unleash their massive marketing & incentive campaign, there is no stopping HD DVD.
Price is KING in this game for the average person which makes up more than 90% of all people. If people really want to kill off Hi Def Media, then go out & buy obsolete expensive Blu-Ray players & movies, if you want Hi Def Media to stand a chance against SD DVD, than buy HD DVD period. Plain & simple.
The DVD Forum will never yield to a incomplete, problematic, profile plagued & extremely expensive Sony Blu-Ray format. So thanks to Sony & the BDA, SD DVD will be around for another 10+ years just until Downloads take over. Blu-Ray stands no chance period.

Sep 28th 2007 10:01PM It’s too bad Sony is bleeding money out of there teeth. PS3 is too advanced for its time, and adding the BD player was the most stupid thing Sony could have ever done. If you want to push Blu-Ray, then sell competitive stand alone players just as Toshiba sells their stand alone HD DVD players which are currently clobbering Sony in stand alone by at least 10:1 in North America.
So, what do we have here? We have a PS3 that has had 2 price drops less then one year (Never Heard of Ever in the Console Business), their Blu-Ray player (Profile 1.0) is still not standardized which may have compatibility problems with profile 1.1 & 2.0 movies coming in Q2 & Q3 2008. The problems are hardware related not software unless Sony can pull a rabbit out of its hat and come up with some miracle firmware update, they are toast.
