Apr 2nd 2008 9:54AM I do not think this is to pacify DirecTV folks. They have had NESN for some time. For the time being, Dish is playing serious catch up. As a DirecTV sub, I rarely watch anything on a SD channel, except Comedy and Fox News. Now we just need more content!

Jan 14th 2008 10:21PM Not True DirecTV has ondemand. I have it on both DVR's. Plus it is free. No cost downloads from any channel that is in your package. i.e TNT, TBS, SHO, STARZ, etc. Plus most PPV. Some PPV is HD!

Jan 12th 2008 12:52PM I have two DirecTV DVR's They play well with an external esata HD. Have not crashed or missed a recording in a long time. The recent software updates have worked very well.
Plus DirecTV on Demand thru the internet is way cool. And remote scheduling via the website ofr my blackberry is very addictive.
I do not thing that Dish has ondemand or remote booking.

Vizio: Behind the scenes of the cheap HDTV manufacturer {Engadget HD}
Oct 21st 2007 9:33AM I have two Vizio's. A P50HDM - 50" Plasma 720P and a GVL42 - 42" LCD 720P. After some tweaking of the settings the pictures are both great. They have been reliable so far. And Cheap. I am going to pick up a 32" or 37" Vizio this holiday season. Why, other brands in this price range do not have the picture quality. Sure their are better screens out there, but I can outfit my whole house in HD for the price of one top of the line set. I have $2,300 wrapped up between my two sets and have been enjoying them for about a year now. I could have got a better screen, but then I would have only been able get one tv.
In five years, I can upgrade to newer tech if it is warranted. But for now, I take HD goodness in every room.

Sep 26th 2007 10:25AM Its great that they are here, no if we could just get them to actually broadcast HD. Only 4 channels were giving HD programming this morning.
BTW to fix the tuning preference from SD to HD update your software. Press the reset button next to the card and when the blue screen comes up tellin you your reciever is "starting up" type 02468 on your remote. That will force a software download.
