Video: Powermat's wireless charging lineup in action {Engadget}
Jan 13th 2009 12:32AM Looking into this more, while I agree this particular implementation of the technology is useless Fulton Power seems to have a better one. Additionally theirs might actually have enough products that use it to become practical. For one thing it actually is wireless charging, for another Texas Instruments and National Semiconductor are working to improve it and make it cheaper.
Logitech, Phillips, Olympus, and Sanyo are members and may well create devices to work with it.
Really, just having TI's vote of confidence is huge..they're not as well known as some today but they invented the integrated circuit AND the microprocessor. Fulton (and Convenient Power) seem to have a lot of what they need on the engineering side and the CE side to make this become standard.
I just hope that more companies jump onboard with this "Wireless Power Consortium" so the idea isn't destroyed by incompatibility issues. I'm excited.

Hacker gives PS3 a homebrew hello {Joystiq Playstation}
Mar 31st 2008 5:22PM Given the timing I'm calling shenanigans until there is some actual proof of the crack. While I seriously doubt PS3 will be able to avoid being cracked indefinitely I need more than some flashing text for this to convince me given the timing.

Jan 28th 2008 8:34PM I personally favor the pulsing laser method over these more..exotic methods, but if it works so be it. As long as we don't do what the guys at VirRx claim they can do, can anybody say "I am Legend"?
Display technology shootout: OLED vs. LCD vs. plasma {Engadget HD}
Jan 27th 2008 8:54PM Specifically, OLED CAN be low power, just like LCD can use less power than CRTs, whether this actually happens or not is up to manufacturers and relevant law though.
Thanks for telling me about that story Godskitchen and hemmy, its certainly not "long ago" even PHOLED was only 20,000 on blue..but I'm not going to make a big deal out of that.
Display technology shootout: OLED vs. LCD vs. plasma {Engadget HD}
Jan 27th 2008 5:54PM The main problem with OLED is lifespan, specifically the lifespan of the blue organic compounds that are used. Otherwise (at least in theory) its superior in cost, potential size, image quality of every kind, and viewing angles over LCD.
If OLEDs become affordable enough and the yields increase it should be able to become the new CRT.

Well, at least National Geographic and History Channel are good, but thats about it. If Time Warner expects to keep their business they'll have to do better, because Grande where available already does.

It has a usb ethernet adapter for $29.99. I still dont see all the fuss about not having the port built in, must people at homes have wireless networks. I do see the battery as a killer for me buying. "
Actually most people are still running wired networks..now maybe Apple's purchaser base being the overconfident and overly rich bunch that they typically are (given the price of Apple hardware) mostly have wireless but I doubt even that.
