Nov 7th 2008 1:10AM I do a bunch of that kind of stuff, and i would have said MBP until they shafted it by taking away the FW400. Maybe you can find a used/refurbed one. I love mine (blah blah fanboy blah) but i wouldn't get the new one.

Oct 21st 2008 7:31PM Every audio person on the planet is crying right now. The lack of FW400 on either of these is completely crippling to any serious use of either of these computers. Any decent external interface is sure as hell not going to use USB, and none of them have FW800. I personally rely on my MBP having both a FW800 port for my external hard drive and the FW400 port for the interface. While, yes, you could daisy chain the two together on the new MBP, this brings up a whole host of issues that i won't go into here. Long story short, Apple really fucked us audio (and video for that matter) guys in the ass here. I expect i won't see any adopted among my peers any time soon.

Oct 2nd 2008 12:00PM I agree with Magnulus. I don't think wireless is by any means required, especially for keyboards. Nothing like running out of juice mid e-mail. Wireless mouse is nice, but for a budget system, i don't think anybody's going to complain too much.
