Iron Man's Blu-ray release manages 20 percent of DVD's market share {Engadget HD}

Oct 9th 2008 3:57AM I've been getting my Blu-rays on Amazon for about what new DVDs cost.

For example:

I bought Iron Man on Blu-ray: $25.95
Iron Man on standard DVD: $24.99

Can you really claim Blu-rays are too expensive? Really?

Ask Engadget HD: What's the best remote for Sony's PlayStation 3? {Engadget HD}

Oct 9th 2008 3:20AM Serious question for you regarding your comment:

My favorite feature of (and reason I have) the Harmony remote is the one press "activity" button that turned on and set everything I use for that particular activity (I'm sure you know what it is, but for other readers: i.e. - I press "Play Blu-ray" and my TV turns on and is set to the input, my receiver is turned on and set to the input, and my PS3 is... well, already on.)

Does that remote you linked to above have a similar function?

This function is what really sold my wife on the remote. "You mean, I don't have to learn how to use all this stuff you set up? All I have to do it say, 'Watch Movie' and it does it for me? You may get one!"

Oct 8th 2008 1:30PM er... that BT2IR was really supposed to be IR2BT, but I'm sure you guys figured out what I meant.

Ask Engadget HD: What's the best remote for Sony's PlayStation 3? {Engadget HD}

Oct 8th 2008 1:29PM I use the Logitech Harmony "for Xbox 360" remote and the PS3IRX1 from Schmartstuff.com. It's not the best solution in the world, but it works for me for now. It's cheaper than the IR2BT product, but not by much and doesn't allow you to use every feature. They have a full feature solution like BT2IR that I have not tried that is $100 (vs the $55 for IR2BT). The good thing about it is that it's not always sold out like it's competitor.

Microsoft's Xbox Live, Zune services to be down simultaneously this Monday {Engadget}

Sep 27th 2008 4:33AM Actually, this update is really more about informing people that the new dashboard look ISN'T coming with this outage... it's not as much about the outage. (At least, that's how I see it.)

Personally, I'm really looking forward to the update for the Netflix streaming capabilities and got excited that it was coming with this maintenance. Oh well. Guess I gotta wait until November.

Zune 30, older iPod classic getting new firmware fun {Engadget}

Sep 11th 2008 2:26PM From the "read link"

Update: A previous version of this article suggested Apple would be making a free update for the original iPod classic that would add Genius functionality. Apple gave us a call, and apparently an Apple representative at the event the other day wasn't as much of an expert as we'd hoped.

Apparently there aren't plans to offer a free Genius-enabling update to the original iPod classic. This was, by the way, the same rep who told us high-definition iTunes downloads would be supported by the new iPod classic -- something that turned out to be only vaguely accurate.

From now on we're only going to believe Apple's event reps if their surnames are Jobs. -Nate Lanxon

My apologies to the OP for this being OT.

Criterion Blu-ray debut delayed until November {Engadget HD}

Well don't I feel like a fool now. I guess I could have done a little bit of research.

iPod nanos set to double capacity, iPod touch likely unchanged in preparation for price cuts? (updated) {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2008 6:14AM If they provided a high capacity iPod Touch I would consider moving away from my beloved iPod Classic.

Back in the day I thought my 60 GB iPod was large, then I outgrew it. THEN they came out with the 120 GB and my mouth dropped. I knew I had to get it. I've got it, and it's full. Just now I had to remove stuff to sync. I wouldn't mind another drastic jump in size though.

With that said, I have played with the iPod Touch and if they gave it 100 GB or more, I would lovingly fork over the money required to upgrade/downgrade to it.
