DIRECTV pauses TNT HD in favor of high-def football {Engadget HD}
Sep 11th 2006 11:28PM My source at DirecTV says TNT HD will not be available on Sundays when they have 9 ST games in HD. Unless something changes, this includes the next two Sunday's when NASCAR is on TNT. Not good news for NASCAR fans who sub to DirecTV. I did suggest they try to find a way to deliver TNT in HD for the NASCAR races affected. We shall see.

Apr 26th 2006 9:24PM As of right now, over 93% of initial buyers are giving the new Toshiba HD-A1 (1st HD DVD player) a thumbs up and plan on keeping the unit.

Apr 16th 2006 2:43PM I'm Ken H, the HDTV Moderator of AVS Forums. My source for this info is the FOX network. None of the filmed / taped reality shows are native HD.
The 480i 16:9 source is upconverted to 720p at the network, before it's distributed to the affiliates in full ATSC format. They look very good, but are not HDTV.
On the other hand, American Idol is HD.

FOX reality shows like COPS and Nanny 911 are not HD. They are 480i 16:9 upconverted at the network to 720p. Tonight's Trading Spouses is 480i 4:3 upconverted to 720p 4:3.
