West Michigan becomes latest region to get AT&T's U-verse {Engadget HD}
Apr 22nd 2008 3:06PM As an existing user, I enjoy u-verse, but for new customers it's starting to loose some of it's aggressive pricing appeal. Last month at&t took away the $10/mo bundle discount for ordering u-verse TV and internet services together. This month they began charging for each additional set-top box @ $5/mo (beyond the one included DVR box). Before you could have 3 for free and $5 for the 4th or more. And they stopped the signup promo for a free first year of HD service.
RED shows off 5K EPIC camera {Engadget}
Apr 14th 2008 4:42PM This is the acquisition format not necessarily the finished product's format. If the output was 4k, shooting a 5k plate for VFX work would allow for cropping, stabilization, re-framing or contain additional off screen data which can come in handy. But you are right, there really are not any standard output mechanisms that would take advantage of 5k. Also it's kinda like future proofing your work. Just like now you are starting to see old TV shows getting put out on blu-ray. They can do that because they were acquired on film. They were never broadcast in anything more than D1 but because the original information was there on the film they can be remastered in 1080.

AT&T enables Flickr photo viewing on U-verse TV {Engadget HD}
Apr 7th 2008 12:48PM I just tried it, they must be pulling the images from the medium resolution then doing an additional aggressive jpeg compressing on them.
On my HD set they look quite bad compared to seeing them on a PC directly from flickr
