Why Blu-ray will win {Engadget HD}

Aug 16th 2006 3:19PM As to Ben the "Blu-ray fanboy", I sometimes find that this conflicts with the authority and confidence that he has established with his fans (just read iTunes reviews and listen to the last weeks podcast).

I am fan of Ben and think he is funny as hell but when he makes statements(posts) like these it makes "me" second guess the intregrity and objectivity of someone I consider an expert in this area.

I don't know about you but "I" look to HDBeat as a site to help me make informed opinions and decisions about all things HD, the fanboy thing is entertaining for a little while but come on?!?!?!

I'll stick with you a while... just be careful, you have a lot of mature, informed and smart readers.

p.s. Ben & Co., you guys are great!

Why Blu-ray will win {Engadget HD}

Aug 16th 2006 1:37PM Ben... stop the SPIN and face the facts.

HD-DVD is “stated” not “perceived” to be the better technology. This is based on overwhelming reviews and comparisons (one's posted on your very own site).

In addition, to say consumers (and your readers) base the quality of technology on price alone is both insulting and ignorant.

Blu-ray may very well win but PLEASE leave your arguments with your "studiomanufacturer support" theory...

Like most fanboys, you are starting to become your own worst enemy and your also doing a injustice to your (excellent) site.

Xbox 360 HD DVD drive to cost $200? {Engadget HD}

Aug 14th 2006 12:23PM I believe this is very likely for the same reaons as stated by previous comments. 360 + HDDVHD needs to be less then or equal to PS3, 360 doing the heavy lifting, etc.

Prediction: Usablecompatible with Vista.

HD DVD supporters talk Q4 '06 and beyond {Engadget HD}

Aug 8th 2006 11:33AM All good points TJ but in the "end" the studios will support whomever sells the most movies.

Also, I agree that Blu-ray will have the advantage with the installed base of Blu-ray players from the PS3 but you can not ignore the fact that the add-on "could" potentitally close this gap significantly. Especially if the price is right.

And again, to my earlier point. After purchasing a PS3, extra controller and a few games; how many people will have money left to buy a movie or two. And, if you did have the extra $30+ bucks, as a gamer, wouldnt you use that money to buy additional peripherals such as the PS2 memory card adapter?

Aug 8th 2006 11:03AM No Richard, you are missing the point... I'm saying that the claim of millions to thousands is exaggerated.

And if you want to quote attachment rates, how about using current figures like the 60% attachment rate for "XBOX 360" Live?
