Sony, Samsung both claim "world's first" 200Hz LCD TV {Engadget HD}

Sep 2nd 2008 3:52PM why would I want this, neither divisible by 24hz or 30hz.....?

Study finds high prices, hamstrung players limiting Blu-ray's dominance {Engadget HD}

Apr 29th 2008 7:10PM My PS3 plays them great, BUT lack of content is a real problem. I'm cancelling my Netflix subscription because there is nothing decent to rent....let alone buy.

I'm ready to buy ANOTHER PS3 IF they release some good movies and a decent back catalog!

Retailers aren't wasting anytime dropping HD DVD {Engadget HD}

Feb 23rd 2008 12:59PM I agree with someone above, my local BestBuy still has HD-DVD players at a premium price, side-by-side with Blu-Ray, trying to catch as many suckers as they can

Win a Philips 42PFL5603D 42-inch 1080p HDTV! {Engadget HD}

Samsung BD-UP5000 review {Engadget HD}

Jan 29th 2008 12:44PM Does anyone actually WANT interactive material????? I know I don't.

Just give me

1. A single format (this one seems to be coming along just fine)
2. Speed the machines up. Even a full minute is a long boot time to watch a movie.
3. High quality video and audio, plus "simple" features (making of, director commentary)

My PS3 is just quick enough, but I'm still not buying any movies until ALL the studios are on board.

Poll: Did you (or will you) buy a new HDTV for the Super Bowl? {Engadget HD}

Jan 28th 2008 6:41PM I had planned on buying a new 52" LCD this week, and so far the deals absolutely suck. No good prices at BestBuy/CircuitCity/HHGregg, no freebies, nada. I'd love to purchase locally, in case there are any issues, but the big guys don't even seem to be trying to win my business.

Hopefully there will be a Friday/Sat/Sunday blow-out sale to bring me shopping

Paramount: "Current plan is to support the HD DVD format." Currently. {Engadget}

Jan 23rd 2008 9:52AM you guys really need to lay off the flaming.....the fact is that NEITHER format will have any appreciable market penetration as long as the "war" continues, and if it continues much longer, it will be trumped by downloads and DVR's anyway. I already get 99.9% of my HD Content via DirecTV, storing it on cheap massive hard drives, and have no plans on supporting either format (even though I have PS3) until their is a single format

Universal exec says studio and HD DVD are moving forward {Engadget HD}

Jan 22nd 2008 8:49PM could care less WHO wins, but until someone does, I'M NOT BUYING ANY MOVIES FROM ANYONE. My HD DirecTV DVR's are full of HD movies that look great, and with cheap hard drives and faster internet, NOBODY will be buying optical storage in a few years.

Report from bizarro world: Centro, i760 best designed phones {Engadget}

Dec 7th 2007 6:06PM I love my Centro...cheap, surfs well, has awesome speed (even tethered to my laptop), and is small enough to fit in my pocket (rare in a smart phone).

Sharp's AQUOS BD-HDW20 Blu-ray recorder with 1TB disk: zero-to-numb in just 0.8 seconds {Engadget HD}

Sep 26th 2007 2:27PM so WHAT does this thing record??? It surely can't record content off of the Blu-Ray discs, and I doubt it can record HD content via HDMI or component? If it only record HD content off-air, then the price is surely way too high.

I'm interested in hearing more though!
